"no chicks" is second only to "button your coat right up to the neck" in terms of the immutable commandments of the genre.

lol watching the Seaside Sons video

fuckin Liam Gallagher has a lot to answer for, teaching a generation of these dork singers that standing stock still with your hands behind your back is "stage presence" and "swagger", boring ass

Flesh are pioneers of SnotPop, a smutty new hash of Britpop with splashes of their Madchester beat surroundings, grunge and cast-iron heavy metal guitars with solid pop foundations. The lads jam out tunes of hedonistic nightlife sleaze over breakbeats and sludge, fuelled by minimum-wage venting and an affinity for second hand sportswear.

With the name inspired by both the in-your-face LGBT Hacienda nights, John Waters style trash and a lack of human connection to the inevitable AI tech world take over, their sounds paint pictures of debauchery, raunch and total apathy.

Influenced by not only the guitar scene but also the filthy club environment, they pump out hard electronic remixes for each single, appearing enigmatically on limited edition CDs, with DJ sets in Europe and at nights such as Boiler Room by the members.

They sound marginally too interesting and eclectic.

posted here because it seems like an advanced baconing 102 version of all the preceding bands... which is kind of 'interesting' but also seems like it would be displeasing to everyone

i figured one of them was a Metal fan and they threw that in as a sop, but hey the OG Stone Roses used to talk a big game about their eclectic influences while they were releasing C86 b-side-alikes

also digital video tech has created this bad almost "uncanny valley" middleground in band videos where bands can make videos that are too professional to be charming and too lame and cheap looking to actually look cool

kurt kobaïan (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 29 June 2015 17:34 (nine years ago) link

these guys = crap Earl Brutus, with 70s iconography replaced by 90s, judging by that video and the pictures on this thread

actually, this is making me think of the Klaxons, who were meant to be a mix of acid house, p-funk, Tangerine Dream, Thomas Pynchon etc etc

iirc when Kasabian first came out all their proclaimed influences were hipster/namecheckable bands as well

them having a song called Avin It In Ibiza is basically what I'm talking about here, ie they're more or less the same as the other bands itt but advanced one irony level

three weeks pass...

The band dubbed the second coming of Oasis have ripped into the British music scene - and some of the biggest Britpop icons agree with them.

The Manchester five-piece are being managed by Oasis svengali Alan McGee.

The band is made up of Maz Behdjet, Sean O'Donnell, James Sweeney, Nick Repton and Colin Ward.

Sean said: “Like millions in this country I can't relate to the corporate sh*** all over the place at the minute. How can anyone on a building site or in a factory pick up a paper on their break and relate to some toff **** moaning about how hard it is being in a band and relate to that? They have the life we all want!

“Our ambition is to get f***ing jet lag. We see touring as a lads’ holiday.

“I'd rather read a story about Ozzy Osborne biting a bat’s head off than the boring corporate-moulded stiffs in the charts at the minute. F*** that.”

McGee told Mirror Celeb: "They are good working class lads in a sea of middle class mediocrity disguised as talent.

"They are supporting Shaun Ryder and Black Grape at the moment and if they're told they have to climb in the van with him and go to a gig for a hundred quid they'll do it. They are up for any task. They don't give a f***."

When asked if they were the new Oasis, he said: “They’re wilder than Oasis.”

But he added: "They are hooligans with a heart of gold and give a lot to food banks."

And McGee told Mirror Celeb that while he was excited about Alias Kid he wouldn't even go and watch an Oasis reunion, much less be involved in one.

Ryder agreed, saying: "They’re an exciting band and all good lads! A great song writing team and they’re all stand up comics too."

The indy group may be influenced by Oasis, the Stone Roses, Kasabian and McGee's other discovery Primal Scream, but he says it is their work ethic that sets them apart from today's manufactured acts.

McGee said: "If someone wins The Voice the first thing I think is 'poor f***er' because that's the last we'll hear of them."

Clint Boon of Inspiral Carpets said they "have the potential to be one of the great Manchester bands."

They told the Daily Star Sunday: "There's no rock and roll anymore - no one's out there having fun. That's what we want to bring back - just a band playing good music and having a good time.

"People go on about how hard life is touring. What are they on about? It's the best job ever. You get to go round with your mates playing music and having a party. What's hard about that?"

According to the Star, Sean was arrested for launching an egg at 10 Downing Street and fined for trashing a hotel room while listening to the Sex Pistols.

So the band have found their Liam, then!

Revolt to Revolt by Alias Kid is out now.

Manchester's new bad boy rockers have released their newest single and the characteristic swagger of predecessors like Oasis and the Stone Roses is apparent.

The band have won praise from indy rockers from Kasabian and the Stone Roses but are determined that their sound is their own.

two separate Mirror articles in 4 days! wtf..

baffling all this chat about touring being a lad's holiday and a party and a laugh. going in with that attitude you'd be shattered by the 2nd week let alone the 2nd album.

Also LOL at the idea that they should be applauded for playing a gig for £100.
