If we shadows have offended,

Think but this, and all is mended—

That you have but slumbered here

 While these visions did appear.

And this weak and idle theme,

No more yielding but a dream,

 Gentles, do not reprehend.

If you pardon, we will mend.

And, as I am an honest Puck,

 If we have unearnèd luck

Now to ’scape the serpent’s tongue,

We will make amends ere long.

Else the Puck a liar call.

So good night unto you all.

Give me your hands if we be friends,

 And Robin shall restore amends.

I guess that makes this the second time I've heard a song this year by a Canadian artist originally from British Columbia that used lines from the ending of A Midsummer's Nights Dream.

The other being the very end of the closing track from Marianas Trench's Astoria.

MarkoP, Saturday, 28 November 2015 00:22 (ten years ago)

anyone else love the title track? the chorus vocals are my fav moment on this

dutch_justice, Sunday, 29 November 2015 19:59 (ten years ago)

ya her vocals on artangels are heavenly, esp the part she sings in french

pplasma, Sunday, 29 November 2015 23:40 (ten years ago)

It must be me, but I keep hearing the melody of this over Artangels and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

ArchCarrier, Monday, 30 November 2015 13:07 (ten years ago)

Fine pop tune with ace vocalist with pedigree. Whats not to like?

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 30 November 2015 13:17 (ten years ago)

Whatever pop station they play at my gym played Flesh Without Blood today.

Flesh without blood seems to quote Bubble Pop briefly

big WHOIS aka the nameserver (s.clover), Tuesday, 1 December 2015 23:09 (ten years ago)

so our four yr old's favorite musician is officially Grimes and his favorite music video is Realiti. he made some fan art for it too, complete with lyrics. i've caught him singing 'oh baby every morning there are mountains to climb' on a handful of occasions.

nomar, Thursday, 3 December 2015 19:54 (ten years ago)

jason waterfalls (gbx), Thursday, 3 December 2015 19:55 (ten years ago)

she likes to see it! her instagram is peppered with posts of fan art, especially when you look about 10 to 15 weeks ago

Karl Malone, Thursday, 3 December 2015 19:59 (ten years ago)

well I posted it and tagged her before....but now I realize that my account had been made private before that so I'll try again!

nomar, Thursday, 3 December 2015 20:05 (ten years ago)

Pfft, he probably doesn't really like Grimes. He's just trying to convince the Tumblr crowd that he is "with it".

MarkoP, Thursday, 3 December 2015 20:52 (ten years ago)

i LOL every time i get to the "pokemon reference" part of the openning track now

flopson, Thursday, 3 December 2015 20:53 (ten years ago)

Seems like james logs in here every now and again so maybe he'll see it and pass it on

^^^ Whiney has made an invaluable contribution to the critical discourse around this record.

I haven't paid much attention to the critical discourse surrounding this record, but the Pokemon thing was apparent to me from first listen.

how's life, Friday, 4 December 2015 01:49 (ten years ago)

1. she loved the fan art

2. it is not a pokemon reference. it is just a lyric that contains the phrase "catch them all"

Flesh without blood is TIME's best song of 2015.

http://time.com/4132832/top-10-best-songs-2/

It's not even the best song off the album! Butterfly and Eazily are current favorites. Of the singles I think flesh is my least favorite. Kill maim and the song that samples Rihanna are better.

Realiti (demo) is the best Grimes song this year, though.

crime breeze (schlump), Saturday, 5 December 2015 19:04 (ten years ago)

So this won NME album of the year? Not that I'm a fan of NME, but cool that they for once get something right.

Frederik B, Saturday, 5 December 2015 19:06 (ten years ago)

thanks schlump, he is a swell dude
