gr8080, Wednesday, 13 January 2016 21:32 (nine years ago)

gr8080 back me up on this, there are some cuts on art angels that give me total balearic vibes. i was driving through l.a. on a recent sun kissed day and listening to this and it hit me.

ufo, Tuesday, 19 January 2016 22:37 (nine years ago)

wasn't there a Janet Jackson video kind of like this from early 2000s? i seem to remember her in a cyberpunk cgi wonderland that reminded me of this...

AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 20 January 2016 15:02 (nine years ago)

this is def my favorite grimes song now

ciderpress, Wednesday, 20 January 2016 15:09 (nine years ago)

"california" has been in my head for days. i'm another listener that didn't like visions but love everything about art angels.

Mordy, Friday, 22 January 2016 20:24 (nine years ago)

Yeah can I get a late pass on California please? Undeniable.

RA the Rugged Advisor (Mr Andy M), Sunday, 24 January 2016 19:55 (nine years ago)

i think that song may blow up

AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Sunday, 24 January 2016 20:01 (nine years ago)

It's probably my favorite from the album as well.

Frederik B, Sunday, 24 January 2016 20:03 (nine years ago)

thanks for hooking me up with Realiti you guys, didn't like it the first time around but it stuck after sufficiently many tries.

I am generally not a fan of millennials with synthesizers, I am old and rockist. But I absolutely love this record.

that's a great 5 tbh, i mean i don't like all of those albums but it's a great 5

call all destroyer, Thursday, 4 February 2016 00:46 (nine years ago)

Regarding the KillVMaim video: I like the outfits and the videogame references but Claire and her brother should let someone else do the directing and editing of the videos. I can see the potential but it looks very tacky, the whole thing is sort of messy, some cuts going on for too long, some are too short, lips don't sync with the song... it doesn't match the energy of the song at all.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 4 February 2016 00:50 (nine years ago)

I loved the video for Realiti mind you and they did that one too, but this one clearly required someone with more time and experience.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 4 February 2016 00:51 (nine years ago)

i gotta agree with ya there. i'd allow a lot of leeway for amateurish charm, but its flaws aren't really charming, just feels off

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Thursday, 4 February 2016 00:52 (nine years ago)

Exactly what I thought too watching it. This song is so fast, but the video kind of drags.

LeRooLeRoo, Thursday, 4 February 2016 00:57 (nine years ago)

lol of course aenima is on there. awesome

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Thursday, 4 February 2016 01:00 (nine years ago)

Video feels like fiftysomething dude's idea of what the young folk like. Tune is great though.

Chuck_Tatum, Thursday, 4 February 2016 08:16 (nine years ago)

She should have done a twenty something version of what the old folks like

Karl Malone, Thursday, 4 February 2016 12:56 (nine years ago)

eheh. what do 50smthg people like ?
good restaurants, week-ends in the country, opera... (I'm closer to 50 than to 20 !)

AlXTC from Paris, Thursday, 4 February 2016 13:11 (nine years ago)

So am I.

She should have done an Adele album?

MarkoP, Thursday, 4 February 2016 13:35 (nine years ago)

I saw her live last night! She still doesn't know all the words to "Butterfly" yet and had a lyric sheet in her hand as an aide. Ave Maria cover was pretty ~wut~, but it kind of worked. The last time I saw her was 2012 and she barely spoke and was this intense figure darting between all her gear like she was frantically operating the motherboard of a spaceship. Now she spends a lot more time out front dancing and getting down, which suits her.

A lot of favourites from the new album were paid dust (no "World Princess pt II" or "Artangels") but "Kill V. Maim" was a riot.

ahah, following your comment I have checked and Adele and Grimes are the same age : class 88 !

AlXTC from Paris, Thursday, 4 February 2016 13:47 (nine years ago)

i'm sure that both are pretty happy with where they're at right now

Karl Malone, Thursday, 4 February 2016 14:07 (nine years ago)

It may me feel really old when she wrote about hearing "Fever to Tell" as some kind of formative listening experience. It seems like that just came out yesterday.

yeah, that's awesome. definitely the song the video wants it to be. love the fake scratching at the end, so perfect.

http://www.stereogum.com/1865746/grimes-electrocuted-onstage-in-dublin/

Stupid sensationalist headline made me think she had died.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 16 March 2016 07:28 (nine years ago)

That's one of my pet peeves. Glad she hasn't been electrocuted. When it comes to onstage electrocutions, I mostly just think of the guy from Stone the Crows back in the 70s, but there was a singer who got killed just a few years ago in Argentina.

how's life, Wednesday, 16 March 2016 09:56 (nine years ago)

i've gotten electrocuted before while playing a show but usually that's cos it's in a crappy basement or otherwise makeshift venue w no grounding, not a real venue, that is bs.
