Nosebleed seats were fine, because the whole stage was used and the sound was clear. Here was my view from Friday night (Auditorium Theater in Chicago):

Yeah, she took some brief videos and it looked like the show was staged to be enjoyed from pretty much any distance. And is it just me, or has Byrne's voice remained magically unchanged for forty years?

I wish they were playing 'Totally Nude' instead of 'Blind.' Setlist looks awesome otherwise. I don't know much of his solo oeuvre. Is the material from the new album strong?

Alexa just played “No Compassion,” followed by a live acoustic version of “Heaven” – and I’m not gonna lie, the combo was poignant.

I hate to say it but much as I respect the Kidjo album, it also unintentionally gives off some old-fashioned eighties 'WORLD MUSIC' vibes that I'm not sure I'm 100% on board with

Between Kidjo and 80s WORLD MUSIC, where would you rank David Byrne?
Half-fatuous, half-serious question.

Years ago the bassist Bob Babbitt came out and claimed he played bass on the first Talking Heads record. It sounded like the usual studio musician bullshit, since they're always claiming they played on everything from the Beatles on down. But the new Tape Op features an interview with Tony Bongiovi, and he (fwiw) confirms the story in detail. I guess Babbitt plays on four tracks because, according to Tony, Tina was paying the wrong notes but refused to rewrite the parts. Why wouldn't she just re-record her parts? Who knows. But there you go, mystery solved.
― Josh in Chicago, Monday, 24 September 2018 19:34 (six years ago) link
Was "Psycho Killer" one of these purported tracks?

Not necessarily...Ed Stasium posted the following on the Electrical Audio forum in 2009:https://www.electricalaudio.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=46055
Re: The Talking Heads bass blasphemyPostby Ed Stasium on Wed Oct 14, 2009 8:10 pmA pal of mine informed me of this discussion....This will be brief...I want to set the record straight about Tina playing on TH77. At the sessions Bongiovi would show up once in a while and when he did he would proceed to the lounge and read airplane magazines. [Engineer] Lance [Quinn] was there most of the time, I was the only person involved in the recording of the project who was there for every minute of the process. Tina played bass on the ENTIRE LP, Bob Babbitt did come in and overdub on one or maybe two songs but at the mixing stage I did not put Babbitt's bass up in the mix and the "producers" knew none the better! I seem to recall that I may have "Ghosted" Bob on the chorus (for effect) of "Love Has Come To Town" under Tina's bass for alas, I was WAY on the band's side.David could not stand Bongiovi and did not want him present whilst he recorded vocals, David informed me of this and I was the one who broke the news to Bongiovi (who did not care). Jerry has since remixed all of the Band's LPs for 5.1 etc. and he would be the one to know (from the track sheets) which of the tracks Bob played on. But geez, it's been 32 years....c'mon!Oh... and as for the Bongiovi quotes in Greg Milner's "History" My lovely wife Amy found the book and the first thing she did was read me several paragraphs and I choked on the tremendous amount of BULLSHIT squatted out by Bongiovi! Mr. Milner should get a truthful source for the addendum that should be added to that chapter. I manned any razor blade that was wielded on "Psycho Killer" (at the band's request), and there are no fucking TYMPANI on "Sheena".The only person who did not know what was going on during those sessions was Bongiovi himself.......I suppose I could go on but I must prepare dinner!Drinks for my friends!.....cheers.....ed

That does confirm Bob was on there, though he's not credited. Like a lot of these semi-apocryphal session stories, there's a chance he is on there but barely on there, or no one remembers where or what or whatever. Everyone's right!
