this album can't come soon enough

the NME gave it 5 stars and called Matty and George "the closest thing we have to a present-day Lennon and McCartney" lol

that nme review was incredible garbage

tickets went on sale for their gig here (super excited to see them again!) right as i started listening to it. new version of the 1975 is great

it owns! love that they jump into ILWYS title track territory almost straight away on this album

"be my mistake" has the sort of arrangement i sorta wish radiohead had gone with for "true love waits"

there's so many things i have to say about this album i'm still just so happy someone finally had the sense to merge d'angelo and m83 (or, rather, bring the jazz element back into new pop revivalism)

as of "i like america & america likes me" i am completely overwhelmed

it's like "the ballad of me and my brain" had a nervous breakdown

they really straight up did their own Fitter Happier lmao

*hears opening chords of "inside your mind"* *every lighter in the arena ignites*

wonder if the "Love Theme" part of that track title is a reference to Vangelis

it sounds like bends-era radiohead? i love it

this is such a perfect bombastic closer

that's the one where i thought X&Y! so mid-00s tv soundtrack-ish, my fucking heart

it also reminds me of Shouso Strip

finished the album and it really rules, not sure how it compares with ILWYS yet but certainly on a similar level. only thing is i never want to listen to "the man who married a robot" again lol
