In this case, the awfulness specifically means that the music is not being completed and/or released. I mean, I would still mind Grimes acting like a fuckwit even if there was something to show for it, but so far all we have is a year of flakey paparazzi bullshit and one song that's pretty dumb.

I've encountered some form of this comment a lot on ILX, so I'm sure this has been covered ad nauseum on here (there are probably a dozen threads about this topic), but I still don't get how people can keep the person and the music separate in their brains. For me, if I've already bonded with the music, I can still enjoy it for the most part (I still like hearing Runaway even after Kanye went all MAGA, and I still love Siamese Dream after Billy went on inforwars), but I really can't get into anything new I hear from those artists, and I'm a lot less inclined to make the effort. Sometimes this is done consciously ("fuck that guy"), but just as often, the brain is creating associations and biases without any higher-order direction.

I dearly love Visions, and really enjoyed Art Angels too, so I'm biased to give her new material a concerted effort. But reading stuff like that text exchange does make it more of an uphill battle. In this case, material that seemed to be beamed down from some ethereal higher plane now seems like it was just dreamed up by a catty high-school kid.

idk elon musk is (or in relevance here, was) infinitely clownable but I'm not out here making sure my was assembled in a union plant, making sure my lithium batteries are responsibly sourced, etc. although I'd put demands on him that in actual business he tries to aim for those things
