John Lennon legendarily used to refer to Paul McCartney's "old time" pastiches as "granny music", which is a term that I certainly think applies to 'Mine' ... although, I think at this point in musical history it's actually more "great-granny music" territory.

completely unrelated, but Ray Davies has way more granny songs than Paul.

I'm listening to a 1975 song on Spotify, and the "canvas" video for it is an ad for "People". First time I've ever seen a band use that feature as an advertisement.

the sentiment of it is fine i just don't think '5 minute spoken word' is going to be a good way to open the album and that there's surely better ways to integrate that sort of message into the album

it's a great way to open the album insofar as you can always just start with track 2

i find it pretty pleasant to listen to, tbh...v sci fi vibe. like an entry from the diary of princess irulan

the instrumental track is kinda cool but so is the track for "The Man Who Married a Robot" and I still skip it

it's not to say that this kind of track can't work. I like VU's "The Gift" and that's 8 minutes long. maybe something about the vocals being too upfront in the 1975 tracks

I have not watched the video. I did listen to the song via Spotify, by queuing up and listening to the "The 1975" intro track first, which I recommend.

i was not expecting this. still processing. but i was hoping this would finally be their 'music for cars' album. i was wrong.

i don't think their singles portend anything about the subsequent albums honestly

Um. I can imagine that song being fun live, minus some of the more annoying effects, and I can also imagine the song is no more indicative of the album than "Song 2" was. But. Um. Yeah, no thanks. Reminds of the Vines or something.
