i actually made an albums of the '00s list a few years ago, i just need this for the sweet sweet tracks

Does your album list of some years ago still hold up or did you make quite some changes? Just curious

for the most part it holds up. i am removing br*nd n*w but i think that's the only difference beyond some minor ranking adjustments

On dis mammoth task again. I could have sworn someone (ArchCarrier?) nominated Johan's 'Pergola' album, but it's not in the document of nominations.

Ah my bad, checked it now, ArchCarrier nominated a single of that album, not the album itself. Fuck. Will have to leave off my favourite 'this will tip you over the edge if you are suicidal' album now (no really, I love it dearly).

I'm surprised no one has pointed this out as I know there are going to be a rush of people voting for it: for King Creosote's KC Rules OK, there's no - between the artist and the album name.

I sent in a slightly shorter mixed ballot today--35 songs instead of 50--and made up my own point system so that everything averaged out to 53 points per song. I'm really annoying that way. If that doesn't work, just adjust as you see fit (or forget the mixed part and give every song 53 points).

The Closer You Get is up there with Mclusky Do Dallas as a pinnacle of guitar music for this decade and about as far from imago widdlywoo music as you could possibly get, do not let his enthusiasm discourage you winkyface

the other Clearlake albums are tbf good, Lido is lifechanging

Blueberry Boat is by 'The Fiery Furnaces' on the album cover, that's good enough for me. (Also lifechanging)

Lido came along at just the right time for me, when I had just stopped doing drugs and was out of university with no degree and no job and was fried and sad and not sure what to do with my life, it felt like someone had captured my life and put it on cd, almost in a scary literal way.

Cedars is also very good. 'Almost The Same' might well be their best track.

my one-sentence review of Lido reads This album is a miracle coalescing from the Sussex sea air and capturing what all British indie ever was attempting to capture on their first goddamn try and really i don't have much to add, it is overwhelmingly resonant with the boredom and joy of being young, British and uncertain. I suppose I could add that the songwriting is exceptionally strong, but it's the mood above all that sustains it. i play it every xmas

I was kinda on board for a wee while after, but Lido was kinda sui generis from where I am sat. They gradually degenerated into trad zzzz

I DID IT. Actually managed a weighted ballot for both albums and tracks. Only a small amount of handwringing over the fact that I am, at the end of the day, indie schmindie (although aside from Spoon in the top ten, I think I fall outside the most predictable quadrant of that cliche.)

Frightened Rabbit also very high on my ballot.

I didn't squeeze Hood in (as it were) but very glad lots of other people are voting for it.

I'm voting for the wrong Hood album, sorry

'Outside Closer'? It's great, all Hood is greater than great, but I have to vote for 'Cold House'.
