Submitted! This was way easier than originally anticipated, and highly nostalgic. Not nearly enough quality tracks nominated, but there were so many already present it was easier to cobble together a list. My top 10 albums could all be #1. Would be cool if I could do a reverse mixed ballot where the top 10 were unweighted (tied for 1st) and the rest were weighted.

I don't generally like to nominate tracks because I don't have a good sense of what were actual singles, so I just would pick my favorite songs off the albums I nominate, but putting my tracks list together made me wish I had offered up some nominations because there were definitely some key tracks that should have been on there.

I prefer albums* myself so would enjoy that rolling out first so no complaints from me.

* I never did get round to doing the lifetime of ilm metal tracks poll (did the albums one in 2016) so after this polls all done & dusted I might be able to run the heavy Rock,Noise & Metal tracks poll I promised 3 years ago get it over and done with before the EOY polls in January.

I vote tracks first. There's a likelihood of weirder variety, and listening along makes thread engagement fun and immediate, rather than just thinking your memories of an album. This spurs excitement that can carry on into and energise the albums rollout.

I left the house today and bought clear liquor with a genuine intention to do a tracks ballot, but i opened the doc and fuck you for this oppressively hard task, nah I'm closing this and walking away, also I looked at the albums ballot I submitted the other night and this is bafflingly wrong, I'll stand by it due to some In Vino Veritas bullshit but I'm apologising right now for not even noticing The Meadowlands on the list, what is on there is all in the wrong order, I've picked the wrong albums for the one-album-per-artist self-imposed nonsense, che vergogna. It's all good stuff though, nah fuckit this is my truth. Tracks would have been well different, just cos of different mode of consumption, but I'm not up to it and I'm ultimately responsible for the life choices that led me to this place

I miss people and cats from this period and some of these songs are Proustianly unhelpful

Otm re: missing cats. Hard alcohol is definitely what's missing for finishing this task. Cutting the last ten is an absolute killer.

"wad" is still on my jacket cos yeah, I'm still wearing the same jacket, what of it? last time I saw "wab" it was getting on a train to London, who knows what became of it? I hope it is doing well and finally found the family it was looking for. The album is at number... six on my list, apparently. I would say it deserved more, it meant a lot to me, but the five above it are pretty fucken good, so lets just go with that. And that's the dilemma I have with every single album here, and why I amn't even considering any resubmission, too much heavy shit involved with every consideration, is that better that that? But then again, that was playing then, and, and... My former fiancee was born in Kortedala, but I remembered when we heard that Jens song for the first time, and that was from that Jens album... I take this shit seriously, and that's why I have to be drunkit to to do this, and that's why I can't do it at all, and btw I have so much love for all of you and your capacity to do better than me

Oh man, this is stressful, I haven't studied at all.

resubmitted again, sorry for the second revision, the tracks list is difficult, I keep rethinking what mattered the most to me that decade, ended up re-ordering my top 10
