i'm a simpleton, "you & me together song" is my fave out of all the new stuff. (followed by "People")

starting to be convinced they won't release the album until every after every single track has been issued as a single

They were amazing last night - If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know) was a big singalong already (and sounded absolutely amazing), in fact all the new songs were great (even Guys, which I was dubious of on first listen, was quite affecting).

The few old EP tracks they played were great too, particularly fallingforyou and HNSCC.

They're opening with People/Sex/TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME/Me & You Together Song, but it doesn't feel frontloaded. In fact I think they could already play 3 hours shows without it feeling like they were stretching for material.

i think "the birthday party" is... one of their best songs?

Oh i was thinking of Nana, She Lays Down and Be My Mistake as their past acoustic songs, I thought they were all pretty universally considered meh here? I guess The Birthday Party is technically acoustic too but it's not, like, acoustic in that bare, minimalist, stripped-down sense

their previous acoustic studio tracks ("nana", "she lays down", "be my mistake", "surrounded by heads and bodies", "102") are all fine but i wouldn't call any great

"the birthday party" doesn't really fit in the mould of the rest so i'm not counting it but it's one of their absolute best imo, the sophisti-country sound of it feels like something only they could do instead of just being a well-executed pastiche like it could have been

it's mixed in a way that is making me feel insane but i like that the song crosses into SNL band territory at certain points, it's a super cheesy song
