sounds like they mixed it to stand out in a current pop environment like the bass is extra heavy

i suppose i could quibble w the mix. like the horns could be brighter/sharper ? but that seems to miss the point

that weird instrumental bit is a conciser version of their instrumentals imo

wish Love, Simon were re-released with "If You're Too Shy" as a non-diegetic piece in one of those eyeing-you-from-afar scenes.

it's all kinda smushed together into a granola bar of sound to me but w/e that's most music is now

i sort of like the symmetry of them doing another john hughes-y song but about avatar sex, stuff like "weird science" as a subtextual influence

"frail state of mind" sounds a lot better now that we've heard so many of the surrounding tracks

it’s the single i’ve spent the least amount of time with and thus it sounds really fantastic rn
