Am I being too hopeful if I still believe I'll see them in October?

Looks like they got really lucky recently:

Artists who’ve cancelled or rescheduled tours will also be trying to save money. When a band books a run of dates, they commit to their production costs up-front. If it doesn’t go ahead, they’re still liable. The 1975, who were due to hit the road in the US this spring, sidestepped a multi million-pound bill for their North America tour by cancelling before they had booked transport and backline support. “If we were to cancel the tour on, say, the third date, those costs would have remained even though the income had disappeared,” says manager Jamie Oborne. “It would have bankrupted the band.”

Also you should all read that piece anyway.

very curious whether the singles were chosen to encompass the breadth of the album. i hope not! i want the album the surprise me the same way each new single has.

Josh (phantompenguin), Sunday, 17 May 2020 21:55 (five years ago)

all the reviews seem to say its their most eclectic yet

ufo, Monday, 18 May 2020 00:14 (five years ago)

Feels unbelievable that this is actually coming out in just a few days. Seems like only yesterday since A Brief Inquiry came out...

josh az (2011nostalgia), Monday, 18 May 2020 15:57 (five years ago)

xp i mean i felt that way in like 2013 (and still think their look from that era is pretty goofy) but i was sooo wrong

ufo, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 00:48 (five years ago)

oh my god that "People" is literally mclusky

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Tuesday, 19 May 2020 02:31 (five years ago)

every live version of people sounds so much better than the studio version

ufo, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 02:41 (five years ago)

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Tuesday, 19 May 2020 05:47 (five years ago)

so far "i think there's something you should know" is really cool and the sequencing is messier than i could have imagined

ufo, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 06:28 (five years ago)

"nothing revealed/everything denied" is a chance the rapper track

ufo, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 06:31 (five years ago)

jesus "roadkill" is phenomenal

ripersnifle, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 06:51 (five years ago)

Really curious about 21. "Don't Worry" (written by: Tim Healy)

aphoristical, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 07:03 (five years ago)

i'm a little underwhelmed, there are a lot of really great moments on this, but most of them are on the singles, and it's such a mess. ilwys got away with its length by being sequenced perfectly while this is ridiculously all over the place. some of the electronic tracks in particular feel underdeveloped - they sound gorgeous as always but don't end up doing enough with what's there. there's definitely a very good album of a more normal length here at least

ufo, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 07:32 (five years ago)

"what should i say"

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 19 May 2020 08:28 (five years ago)

the new "the birthday party" intro *_*

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 19 May 2020 08:30 (five years ago)

the filler seems pretty clear so far

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Tuesday, 19 May 2020 09:05 (five years ago)

I'm sort of shocked at how little I'm connecting with so much of this :/

k*r*n koltrane (Simon H.), Tuesday, 19 May 2020 09:14 (five years ago)

yeah that was my reaction too

like "yeah i know" and "bagsy not in net", among others, feel like unfinished sketches and "then because she goes" has potential it's just over way too quick and the auto-tune bit doesn't really work

ufo, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 09:30 (five years ago)

man, y'all up early!

Listening now.

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Tuesday, 19 May 2020 12:40 (five years ago)

i have listened to "i think there's something you should know" sooo many times this evening

ufo, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 12:52 (five years ago)

frail state of mind still like passing through a vortex

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Tuesday, 19 May 2020 12:53 (five years ago)

wait til you hear "i think there's something you should know" as far as passing through a vortex goes

ufo, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 12:57 (five years ago)

"the birthday party" is such an amazing song

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Tuesday, 19 May 2020 12:58 (five years ago)

Never mind. I was unable to find it.
