Too many songs with the same palette and purpose was this album's undoing for me. Hamburg Hotel possibly my favourite thing on it as a result.

nashwan, Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:16 (five years ago)

Not meaning to undersell the evident variety of at least 50% of it.

nashwan, Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:18 (five years ago)

Rediscovered "Between Stars" here. I loved "Scribble" at the time but now I get the fan love for "You Do Scribble" over the single/vocal version. Massive track. I had the album at an even lower rank, but still so much to love. Crazy.

maffew12, Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:21 (five years ago)

Crazy.

Hackers (1995) (Will M.), Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:29 (five years ago)

love Barking and I agree 9 is too low but idk what I'd bump for it

frogbs, Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:31 (five years ago)

i had it at 4 but i think i was being challopsy putting it above 2 stone cold classics

Hackers (1995) (Will M.), Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:34 (five years ago)

the version of Barking that exists only in my head is definitely one of their best albums though

frogbs, Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:34 (five years ago)

so, who's been to Barking?

maffew12, Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:36 (five years ago)

I voted for Riverrun, I hadn't heard any of it prior to this poll but as a whole thing I like it more than any of the proper post-'90s albums.

Gavin, Leeds, Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:38 (five years ago)

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:51 (five years ago)

Cruel, cruel math

maffew12, Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:52 (five years ago)

this is one of the ones that just gets lost in the shuffle for me (aside from the incredible sort-of title track) but thats prob on me

fun fact: this album cover makes a cameo in, of all movies, EUROTRIP

I guess scotty doesn't know......... ABOUT ALL THE OTHER GREAT RECORDS IN THEIR CATALOGUE

Hackers (1995) (Will M.), Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:55 (five years ago)

It was just the newest at the time. The math works.

maffew12, Thursday, 4 June 2020 21:56 (five years ago)

What's the version in your head like?

ALAF with the groovy bassline, You Do Scribble with vocals, Diamond Jigsaw with the synth, and the original Moon in Water

& Strumpet instead of Bird 1. Bird 1 is good, but it's not as good as Strumpet live was.

brotherlovesdub, Thursday, 4 June 2020 22:12 (five years ago)

everything everything too low

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 4 June 2020 22:15 (five years ago)

Aren't # of #1's usually indicated? You got hacked, Will!

It's fantastic but it's still a live album... I couldn't put it ahead of much of any original material.

from here it gets really interesting!

maffew12, Thursday, 4 June 2020 22:28 (five years ago)

expected but too low!!!!

maffew12, Thursday, 4 June 2020 22:29 (five years ago)

practically a reunion album, the start of this phase. The joy of it. Love all of it.

maffew12, Thursday, 4 June 2020 22:30 (five years ago)

LOVE Barbara Barbara, I exhale is humongous

Hackers (1995) (Will M.), Thursday, 4 June 2020 22:34 (five years ago)

Yes, I've noticed that they talked about it like that - though they'd been working on lots of projects that came out of the Underworld office, and played live still*, this was the first time they'd either made music together or been good friends in six years. And the floodgates opened!

* though in Karl's new preferred festival-format shows

an, uh, razor of love (sic), Thursday, 4 June 2020 22:43 (five years ago)

Any speculation about what's going to place in the top five?

an, uh, razor of love (sic), Thursday, 4 June 2020 23:02 (five years ago)

well no

maffew12, Thursday, 4 June 2020 23:04 (five years ago)

I don't like guessing out loud, to me it's like ppl saying "he's the killer" halfway thru a whodunit movie. Like cool you're clever but just let it ~unfold~

Also I have no idea how they'll land lol

would put "peach tree" at no. 2 these days tho

ivy., Saturday, 13 January 2024 19:21 (one year ago)

despite what i said yesterday, Juanita was my #1 too

hmm, you could put Juanita 2022 on top as kind of a cheat for your alt list. in isolation (not putting on STITI) i prefer it!

maf you one two (maffew12), Saturday, 13 January 2024 20:53 (one year ago)

maf you one two (maffew12), Friday, 19 January 2024 17:19 (one year ago)

I too will try to game how to make "Tin There" place higher if we repoll

badpee pooper (Eric H.), Friday, 19 January 2024 17:24 (one year ago)

you wanna know something crazy I played "Custard Speedtalk" during my DJ set yesterday and someone correctly identified it as "the guy from Freur", adding "it's too bad he passed away"

frogbs, Friday, 19 January 2024 18:17 (one year ago)

OMG, lol!

groovypanda, Friday, 19 January 2024 19:15 (one year ago)

Whilst I love both tracks, I'm still bitter that Rez and Cowgirl's votes were combined

groovypanda, Friday, 19 January 2024 19:16 (one year ago)

I spent most of the drive home trying to figure out who he could've been thinking of and my best guess is Keith Flint

frogbs, Friday, 19 January 2024 20:07 (one year ago)

one year passes...

Found the batman and Robin on vinyl for cheap and you bet I bought it just to hear that version of moaner again, I don't remember where I ranked it but I'm pretty sure it wasn't first which means I ranked it too low
