Tin There was pretty high on my ballot, I never played the game itself but I did buy the Wipeout 2097 soundtrack CD and always loved that song. Hearing the longer version was interesting but I think I do prefer the one I'm more familiar with.
Air Towel is one of my favourites on Second Toughest so it feels too low to me if anything!

There is nothing in the songs "Blueski", "Stagger" and "Juanita" (for example) that sounds anything like anything in the other two. ― roxymuzak, Tuesday, June 29, 2004 11:55 AM
As for Second Toughest, it's what got me hooked on Underworld and will always be my sentimental favorite. Though "Stagger" will probably always zero plays on my iTunes. ― Eric H., Wednesday, October 24, 2012 1:49 AM

Listening along with the results so many of these tracks seem like no brainers that I’ve always loved and should have voted for, but I hadn’t remembered what they were from looking at track titles alone
Not Spoonman though, that was top 10 material

The only dubnobass album track on my ballot (also had "Cowgirl" and multiple non-album versions of "Dirty").
― Dirty Epic H. (Eric H.), Tuesday, 16 June 2020 18:52 (four years ago) link
I thought "Spoonman" off "Dubnobass..." was flippin' ace!!! No one I know seems to like it!!!!! Mind you, I like repetitive techno bollox!!!!!! I also went to one of the concerts (Broadcast on Radio 1!!!!!) at around the time of "Dubnobass...", (The same night as they found the body of Kurt Cobain!!!!) and it was grebt/GRATE/etc!!!!! Unlike the recent "live" album, it was one big long DJ mix style jam, mixing in various bits of their songs. The track on the live album which mixes "Cowgirl" and "Rez" is nearest equivalent- imagine a whole concert like that with most of the tracks from "Dubnobass..." and an early version "Born Slippy"!!!! (I've actually got a tape of it somewhere, taped off the radio...) ― Old Fart!!!, Wednesday, January 7, 2004 9:27 PM

disc 4 of the reissue has "Spoonman (version1 A1559 Nov92)" which I think is even better than the one that wound up on the album. there's an additional layer to it that didn't make the cut.

This soundtrack album and the actual soundtrack of the video game do not contain the same collections of music. CoLD SToRAGE supplied two tracks ("Canada", "Body In Motion") for the game, the Chemical Brothers produced "Dust Up Beats", Fluke created a different "Atom Bomb" Mix than the one featured on this release called "Atom Bomb (Straight Six Instrumental)" and Future Sound of London, supplied "Landmass", none of which were included on the soundtrack album. Conversely, Photek's "Titan", the Chemical Brothers' "Leave Home", and the tracks by Daft Punk, Source Direct, Orbital, and Leftfield did not appear in the game itself.

"Kittens". I heard a RealAudio excerpt of this when _BF_ came out and was suitably staggered. I was all set to run to the store to buy the album when I heard "Push Upstairs"... ew. Hyde's lyrics are starting to annoy me more here and there these days, particularly on Luetin tho that is a fantastic track (a classic case of a track you are just casually listening to, a few minutes pass and then you just hit a moment and realise where you are who you are what's going on etc.) ― blueski, Friday, May 21, 2004 2:09 AM The trick to Luetin for me is the strings. I often don't notice them come in, but I do, it's lovely. I can't even make out most of the lyrics on it though. ― Vinnie, Friday, May 21, 2004 2:20 AM he says 'cokey cola' ― blueski, Friday, May 21, 2004 2:21 AM

great tune, glad to see it this high. but yeah Karl's lyrics on this one are kinda...uh...best not to pay too much attention
― frogbs, Tuesday, 16 June 2020 20:55 (four years ago) link
I never intentionally pay attention to Karl's lyrics, so it's always a nice surprise when a phrase catches on and sticks in my head, or I can associate a song with some words.
"The rhythm of keys swinging in your hand, the rhythm of light coming out of your fingers" - the latter part sat in the song as a general vibe of positivity, or a rave visual of lasers and splayed hands, for years before I suddenly locked it with the first half and realised they could be paired. Maybe Karl had spotted an extremely menial, quotidian image at a moment where the sun hit, and sparked a tiny hidden poem out of it.
