it's my dad's, I learned to play on it during my tween years, then ran off with it later on.

Ah cool
― Spottie, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 05:31 (four years ago)
There's something subtly a little cheesy looking about the Eastmans, but it's very subtle and I might get past it. Actually the T58 is beautiful, I just don't want those pickups.
― longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 12:55 (four years ago)
Maybe it's just the script Eastman logo. I think I might want a T59 now.
― longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 13:00 (four years ago)
my daughter has one of their hollow-bodies, whose model number I don't have handy, and it's a thing of beauty. I love getting my jazzy noodling out on that guitar.
― tobo73, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 13:22 (four years ago)
People are asking insane prices for the Gibson I have on Reverb, like double what I paid a few years ago. I can't imagine they're actually fetching that much.
― longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 13:30 (four years ago)
do 70s SGs have skinnier necks?
― joygoat, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 13:34 (four years ago)
xp looks like it's selling consistently for 1300-1450 on reverb. it does seem like prices for everything have ticked up tho.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 14:20 (four years ago)
yeah when I look at the actual sale prices it's more in line with what I paid, guess there are just a couple ridiculous listings. Prices are ticking up though.
― longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 14:21 (four years ago)
prices for everything are up, plus reverb increased fees to net 10% and people are trying to recover
― Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 15:27 (four years ago)
i thought it was 5%
― Spottie, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 15:33 (four years ago)
have a Dean Dave Mustaine Zero guitar.
want one with a fuckin whammy bar or one that can play itself cos I suck.
― Feta Van Cheese (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 15:38 (four years ago)
Spottie - Reverb fee is 5%, then add reverb or PayPal processing fee. then deduct shipping since you listed with free shipping ;-)
― Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 16:05 (four years ago)
I’m going to actually try selling stuff local instead of via Reverb next time I have something to sell. I hate Craigslist but shipping keyboards and guitars is such a PITA.
― Joe Bombin (milo z), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 16:27 (four years ago)
the first time I sold a guitar and shipped it I failed to appreciate how costly and difficult it was if you don't know what you're doing and basically lost a lot of money on the sale
― Feta Van Cheese (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 16:28 (four years ago)
Dimensional weight is a motherfucker.
I had a guitar shop in Washington ship me an Ampeg VT40 combo once - it probably weighed 100 pounds on its own and had free shipping. They must have been desperate to make it go away.
― Joe Bombin (milo z), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 16:31 (four years ago)
i think the last time I sold a guitar and amp I literally hand-delivered it to a friend cos fuck shipping that stuff.

― Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Wednesday, June 2, 2021 9:05 AM (one hour ago) bookmarkflaglink
ah, got it. i think offerup is a good option, at least for gibsons and fenders since you'll get enough eyes on those. also offerup for amps for sure. reverb prob better for higher end stuff or more rare.

I really like the birds! Did not know until a few years ago that they're all different species!
I've never actually played a PRS. Their S2 series has always intrigued me.
― peace, man, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 19:07 (four years ago)
The best-looking S2s also lack birds :/

― peace, man, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 19:08 (four years ago)
ha I was actually just looking at an S2 standard sunburst on Craigslist and thinking how much I'd like that guitar with a different headstock, which inspired the post
i wonder if you could put a gibson headstock on it?
― Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 19:15 (four years ago)
the thing that is most exhausting to me about the PRS aesthetic is the transparent tops with all the figured maple woodgrain stuff, like would it kill them to make a guitar that's painted a solid color
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 19:40 (four years ago)
You guys should def trade me an oldish tele for my washington hatcats themed prs. It's a solid color!
― bogo jumbo junbi boba (Sufjan Grafton), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 19:44 (four years ago)
Even flame top Les Pauls are ugly IMO. Plain tops look so cool in a darker edged burst, I see no reason to gild the lily.
― Joe Bombin (milo z), Wednesday, 2 June 2021 20:01 (four years ago)
yah not a fan of PRS's and it's all based on aesthetics.
― Spottie, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 20:01 (four years ago)
hard to tell from sufjans pic but that prs looks like just normal paint no transparent?
― Spottie, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 20:02 (four years ago)
It is very normal. A 1999 ford explorer eddie bauer guitar.

pretty wild you're the only one with a PRS thus far.

My understanding is that if you own both a PRS and a Mesa Boogie, you can get instantly licensed as a Blues Dentist.
My sources may be wrong, however.

i made fun of the quilted burst top / bird inlay prs aesthetic on one of the guitar threads here; after christmas this year the guitar player in my band bought himself a blue burst prs with the bird inlays
― joygoat, Wednesday, 2 June 2021 21:27 (four years ago)
Did you then mercilessly mock and humiliate him, such that he quit the band in disgrace?
(Just kidding, of course. I would only mock someone who brought a Rich Bich to a folk session.)

P sure my ES-335 Studio is an official junior tone associate guitar. It plays blues in every key.

― Joe Bombin (milo z), Thursday, 3 June 2021 01:02 (four years ago)
those are so cool looking but the body size and the banjo tuners is just....a lot.
i've ordered some stuff to continue modding the tele thinline--b/w/b guard, deluxe-style knobs, and 1-meg pots for tone and volume to match the original spec for all the wide-range equipped fenders.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 3 June 2021 02:06 (four years ago)
If you need the repro WRHBs to sound cleaner, you can screw out (or even remove) the hidden polepieces from underneath the pickup, effectively you get around 1.5 polepieces per string instead of 2, gets a little more single coil although it's still a bar magnet pickup.
― assert (matttkkkk), Thursday, 3 June 2021 02:52 (four years ago)
I played a PRS a few years ago & was blown away, but the aesthetics of the thing were so awful that I couldn’t possibly.
― "The Pus/Worm" by The Smiths (hardcore dilettante), Thursday, 3 June 2021 03:52 (four years ago)
The aesthetics of a PRS are borderline upsetting to me, like the fact that someone with the money to buy a very nice guitar would think THAT looks nice
