oh lol i mistook it for "the twilite kid" but yeah "twilight" is amazing

I ended up voting The Twilite Kid higher than Twilight but I might have changed my mind on that in the last week since I sent in my ballot. Beautiful song.

my issue with 1965 is that 'sweet son of a bitch', 'citi soleil' and 'john the baptist' are over-the-top bad to the point that i'm not willing to give 'the slide song' or 'neglekted' the benefit of the doubt. i mean, we get it: sex!

the horns are great tho

"sweet son of a bitch" is definitely terrible but it's a tiny interlude that's the most skippable thing in the world

I hate to cross mookie, but I like both “John the Baptist” and “Citi Soleil,” and may have even voted for them as part of my selections from 1965, although the latter is in the same tradition of misspellings as David Johansen’s “Swaheto Woman.”

i remember listening to this for the first time and thinking wahhhh this doesn't sound like the afghan whigs but it sounds rad???? still true

yeah it was a strange comeback single, not really being representative of the rest of the album, not the classic whigs sound, not quite its most accessible moment

but it's a solid song

the transition from country-tinged ballad to the blown out chorus with synth strings & electric piano is great, blackberry belle has such a cool sound overall
