This would have been my number one. It destroys me. The production, the guitars, the heart of it. Even in my mind's ear it's too much.

iirc dulli said it was his attempt at writing a who song

it's incredible, a song that's entirely just reaching out for something higher, never really settling into a groove, and it actually kinda gets there

yeah! Still a bit dirty that they didn’t play this at the show i saw

That clip totally captures how strong those 2012 shows were tho - dulli in great voice, drummer a monster, inaudible cellist

"Gentlemen" was the first Whigs song I loved but when I put the album on again it seemed like the sixth best song, and I limited myself to five. feel kinda bad now.

it's a very solid track but not one i was expecting to see anywhere near this high

first time I heard what jail is like was the peel session on uk radio when I was visiting in 1994 - I was sitting in a coach and totally caught up in my own relationship mess - in the context of Indie Music 1994 it just seemed so much richer and complex and ambitious than anything else around it - had enjoyed gentlemen and debonair as cool miami vice rock but I guess this was the song that really sealed the deal for me wrt the whigs

It’s a personal favorite of mine, but my ballot was unranked anyway so I also figured it might not place that high.

Even as a title it's classic. And pure Dulli.
