Alice Cooper - The Hair Metal Years POLL (1986-1991)

After his stint with the original band, dabbling with soft-rock type of stuff, and a flirtation with New Wave on several albums that he can't remember recording because he was drunk out of his mind, Alice went to rehab. When he returned, he came back with... ah... a successful hair metal sound. But which of these albums is the best?

Even if "Poison" is a great little pop tune, Constrictor is a way better album.

"Thrill My Gorilla" vs. "Feed My Frankenstein"

"Roses on White Lace" is a GREAT metal song. Covered by melodeath band Arsis a decade or so ago.

Kip Winger was all over the Constrictor album, you can hear his backing vox. It's a good record, Iw as a fan of it when it came out. Trash, though, is a good, consistent blend of sleaze metal and Desmond Child material. I'd call "Poison" the last truly great song of the pop metal era.

So sad I missed this. Would've voted for Raise Your Fist and Yell, which for unclear reasons (age? love of horror movies?) was my entrance into the world of Vincent Furnier's alter ego. If side one had been of the same caliber as side two, especially that legitimately creepy Chop-Gail-Roses triptych, RYFAY would be up there with King Diamond's Abigail as far as horror metal goes.

Well okay maybe it'd be up there with Them but still.

As for Trash and Stoopid ... uh, "Wind-Up Toy" was really cool.
