I haven't heard it but I read pitchfork's review yesterday and they made it sound like the laziest, most tossed-off record ever.

will all of their releases be solo albums by lead singers of "new rock" bands who made a splash around the turn of the century?

Presumably Jams Murphy'll make a "solo" rec at some point, so

it's definitely tossed-off, though i'm not sure i'd call it lazy. some goddamned beautiful songs on there. 15 songs in 25 minutes certainly appeals to the guided by voices fan in me, as does the fidelity, which occasionally approaches me-recording-directly-to-my-iphone-voice-memo-app quality, so i may not be a totally objective listener. "rapt" and "nyc baby" both hit me hard right away. i've always been attracted to the emotional heft in her voice, and in this stripped-down format, it just sounds heftier to me, more direct, more vulnerable, more open. plus, it's really really catchy in an unfinished-folk-rock kind of way.

just heard her two newest tracks with danger mouse. really good, especially the 9-minute three parter (Lux Prima) that ends in this neo-balearic thing.
