not actually a song *title* of course, but "it's a tragedy to see the dream is over ..." (Milli Vanilli)

I like the title of "Flash in the Pantry" by Gryphon, but I suspect I'd hate the song.

What is good about the title of "Academy Fight Song"??

Robin reviewed something on NYLPM long long ago and it had a title something like "If we can land a man on the moon why then can't I win your heart?" and I thought awww but the song itself was atrocious.

The last song I downloaded purely cos of the title was called "Speakers Push The Air" by Pretty Girls Make Graves. I should have been tipped off by the band name but it was an absolute stinker.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 22 October 2002 10:10 (twenty-three years ago)

I mean "Speakers Push The Air" sounds like a lost bass classic!

Actually come to think of it "Women Respond To Bass" by Renegade Soundwave is a not-bad track but it can't live up to its title.

Almost every Morrissey solo track?

Justyn: no.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 October 2002 18:42 (twenty-three years ago)

When I heard the title "Academy Fight Song", for some reason, I knew it'd be a great song. It's one of my favorites now. I can't pinpoint what it is about the title, tho. I liked "Speakers Push the Air" after I forced it; "If We Can Land..." is a WONDERFUL mixtape song (of course). The deciding factor in which Morrissey solo songs I like the most is always the title (ie "Hairdresser on Fire" = best song evah)

I didn't know Car Seat Headrest except as a name, but I was curious to hear this song, despite some trepidations.

!!! - “We Were Stoned When We Thought Up The Title Of This And We Didn't Want To Give It A Name That We Had To Explain As 'Oh Yeah We Were Stoned When We Thought Of It' So We're Just Calling It Improvisational Jam 11-02-01”

i hate myself and want to die - nirvana

good song tho

billstevejim, Tuesday, 2 January 2018 19:37 (eight years ago)

i disagree, it's a throwaway noise song, boring riff, shit lyrics. and the title is so good. easily my least favorite in utero era song, including 'gallons of rubbing alcohol...' (fantastic title, great genuinely disturbing music & lyrics) and 'the other improv' (absolutely chilling). i love all the in utero era songs but man what a waste for 'i hate myself and want to die.'

flappy bird, Tuesday, 2 January 2018 19:41 (eight years ago)

Is it the one where the chorus is like "Its someday, its someway" ?

Mark G, Tuesday, 2 January 2018 21:52 (eight years ago)

yeah

flappy bird, Tuesday, 2 January 2018 21:55 (eight years ago)

Mark G, Wednesday, 3 January 2018 08:21 (eight years ago)

'alright' maybe, but not great, certainly not as good as the title deserves

All About That Bass

AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Wednesday, 3 January 2018 17:18 (eight years ago)

great choice

flappy bird, Wednesday, 3 January 2018 17:20 (eight years ago)

Its a bad title because it doesnt serve the song. I think it got randomly applied, along with "Sappy" or "Verse Chorus Verse" or whatever else those two songs got.

Mark G, Wednesday, 3 January 2018 22:15 (eight years ago)

yeah the song is very nonchalant, it sounds tossed off, the emotional tenor of the song is indifference. the music of "Moist Vagina" and "Milk It" would've fit "I Hate Myself and Want to Die" much better, for example.

flappy bird, Wednesday, 3 January 2018 22:17 (eight years ago)

like, idk when i listen to the song i'm not convinced he hates himself or that he wants to die. lol

flappy bird, Wednesday, 3 January 2018 22:17 (eight years ago)

kind of a shitty thing to say about a suicide victim

Nurse with Wound has some utterly pretentious yet awesome titles. The music is not horrible but it’s somewhat unremarkable half of the time.
