yeah i kind of agree with you, tbh. i keep listening to wave 1, and i like the overall sound of it, but i keep waiting for something to hit me like the song i just posted.

I'm waiting for Spruce Bringsteen.

pre-Galactic Melt EPs Cyanide Sisters and Fairlight are excellent as well

i've seen this stupid name so many times i'm surprised there isn't already a thread

there is already a thread:creatively bankrupt newish chillwave/post-AnCo bands whose names are just '80s ephemera
― sarahell, Monday, 22 September 2014 06:29 (ten years ago)
My favorite one of these types of band names will always be Bit Meddler.

oh please this is not "chillwave" or "post-AnCo" you smartasses
― brimstead, Monday, 22 September 2014 21:00 (ten years ago)
it's chill, and it's wavey, but not chillwave-y

Com Truise reminds me of Ratatat in that they have such an undeniably identifiable sound, I kinda feel it constrains them a bit.

^^ and Tobacco / BMSR

I liked Galactic Melt a lot, too, but never even checked out In Decay.
And I seem to be in the minority on this, but I've always thought the name is great, precisely because "Com Truise" sounds like something that should be associated with this kind of sound, and not just a play on an actor's name for creatively bankrupt post-AnCo shits 'n' giggles
Downtown harks backHalfway up the streetI used to be freeI used to be seventeen
what does it mean that i am nostalgic for feeling nostalgic? what's more, it was "borrowed nostalgia" from the beginning.... i never lived through the 80s.
millennials are/were the inbetweeners. we knew, at some level, that we were living at the dawn of a new era, but we clung anyway to the past, albeit in an ironic and aestheticized way. does that make us cowards?
