I'm pretty sure looking back that it was only me, and I would still stand behind that first album.

The one song I heard off the second one pretty much ensured I'd never listen to anything else she released.

Great call on the misspelling of "sovereign" so no one will ever be able to retrieve this thread for any reason.

It wasn't just you, for a time ILM was like a Lady Sov board.

I actually did like the 2nd album track that was built on "Close to Me" though, so I must be a terrible person.

Vertically Challenged and Public Warning were both great in parts. And without Sov, would we ever have had Juicee Kouture?

there's something terribly compelling about "My England" that I still enjoy today

She was pretty good - I agree with DJP's "compelling" - there was something compelling about one or two of her tracks. A victim of commercialism perhaps? Both albums have some good bits and there was some good remixes. xhuck stanned for the second album I recall.

i still like lady sovereign, those early singles at least. she comes up on my ipod shuffle every now and then and i never skip her.

A Little Bit Of Sssh and Ch-Ching >>>>>> whatever thirdaltrnative was into that year

"ch ching" is still all-time tbh, a better song than most artists will ever do

forgot about her until target failed to get the name of her album right on hip hop mastermind on bbc3 recently. but ch ching is a classic, yep. and one of the highlights on that first run the road, despite what grime purists might think.
