this is kinda tough!

Liadov's Musical Snuff Box has a music box vibe but it isn't as twinkly/dreamy as a celesta:

anyone got something really frosty and haunting. ambient, reverb-heavy, evocative of a twinkling icicle deep inside a cavern maybe?

there is some video game music that was written specifically to evoke that image. not reverb-heavy necessarily, but like this: http://youtu.be/bcXuwXKsqMY

and that reminds me of these ultra-twinkly bits of n64 music, one very aptly named: http://youtu.be/uKuGt94jTpw http://youtu.be/KS-T_8N73jQ

Yeah I love it. Rather unique too, I know nothing like it, though a lot of great twinkly music came out around or just after 2000, esp from Japan (Daisuke Miyatani, Shuta Hasunuma, Susumu Yokota, Piana) and things like Talkdemonic, Kettel, Secede, ISAN, Lullatone. All highly recommended.

I wonder if Iasos was an influence on the mid-90s atmospheric jungle scene. If you took an LTJ Bukem Drum 'n' Bass record, then took out all the drums, and the bass, you'd be left with an Iasos record.
