First four are all intense, and "Can't Help" is one of Elvis' best. Props for Shirelles and Dick Dale as well. Tough choice.

There's a surprisingly sizable number of really great songs in that list, especially given that they're half a century old and still hold up, but I seriously love that Jive Five song.

Feels weird not voting for a hit, but "My Favorite Things." Close: "Moon River," "Blue Moon," "It Will Stand," "Bristol Stomp," "Peppermint Twist." Second-favourite song from '61: Dick & Dee Dee's "The Mountain's High."

This seems as appropriate a place to post my theory as any: assuming that Rosie Palm/Rosie Five-Fingers existed as a euphemism in '61, I like to believe that the in-song version of Dion the Irrepressible Fuck Machine dedicated a sprawling chest tattoo to his right hand.

By the way, General Johnson of the Chairmen of the Board ("Give Me Just a Little More Time") was in the Showmen. Not sure, but I think he's singing both songs.
