The answer is always Julian Cope over anyone, so Julian Cope. I haven't read the novel but his memoir is amazing.

will never read Ass Saw the Angel again after enduring the first few chapters when it was new. Would at least be excited to try Cope's fic. Cope over Cave for music, polemics, and personality too.

The Cope fiction novel is called One Three One and it is bonkers. Not terrible, but not nearly as good as his nonfiction memoirs.
