On the occasion of Susan Fast's recent, and quite excellent, 33 1/3 volume, what's *your* Jam?

Remember the POLL: The Michael Jackson "Dangerous" Poll

"In the Closet" was robbed, let's get this right

droit au butt (Euler), Wednesday, 17 December 2014 10:42 (ten years ago)

Really hard to pick one here. The only thing I can't stand here is "Heal the world", but that's totally counterbalanced by "Will you be there" with its eye-misting superpowers.

TBH Jackson's discography is pretty flawless to me.

cpl593H, Wednesday, 17 December 2014 12:27 (ten years ago)

who is it, again

Brantley Gilbert's "Bottoms Up" made me realize how awesome "Give In To Me" is.

The ominous synths and guitars in "Give in to me" remind me of "The Real Thing"-era FNM (and are as good as anything in that album)

'Why You Wanna Trip On Me'

Welcome To (Turrican), Wednesday, 17 December 2014 14:44 (ten years ago)

Kneejerk vote for 'Dangerous' but even just reading the track listing I am itching to listen to the whole thing right now. So good.

Gah! Missed that this had been polled before.

Gonna vote for "Will You Be There," but re-listening, I'm surprised at how solid so much of this is.

"In The Closet" for its brittle, sampled beauty. It's somehow very minimal and very lush at the same time.

Acid Hose (Capitaine Jay Vee), Friday, 19 December 2014 01:44 (ten years ago)

this will always be "Who Is It?" for me

"Jam" was the hardest shit ever when i was 10, still is kinda

man, if he hadn't been so concerned with filling up the capacity of a cd, this could have been a masterpiece. throw out the schlocky ballads and rearrange the sequence and you have a damn good album:

jam
black or white
why you wanna trip on me
give in to me
in the closet
dangerous
remember the time
she drives me wild
who is it
can't let her get away

and even like that, it's still a goddamn hour long. title track is underrated. "remember the time" is so good. it's fucking godlike. my sweet lord, what an absolute `choon.

somehow i played this CD a million times without looking at the cover for longer than 15 seconds

Z_TBD (Karl Malone), Sunday, 4 July 2021 20:55 (three years ago)

and it represents the music perfectly.

i had it on cassette and would often investigate the scaled down version with a magnifying glass. true story.

If you care at all about this album and you haven't yet picked up Susan Fast's 33 1/3 (which I re-read this afternoon), you need to get on that. She even manages to make a plausible case for "Heal the World!"

“if he hadn't been so concerned with filling up the capacity of a cd”

it’s doubly nuts because he wrote/recorded like 50 songs for it, like with Bad

This album just reminds me of wandering the video gam aisles at Toys R Us for some reason.
