I really can't vote for anything other than "Rude" here.

MaudAddam (cryptosicko), Saturday, 3 January 2015 04:57 (ten years ago)

i don't remember most of these but i have a real grudge against "car radio"

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Saturday, 3 January 2015 04:58 (ten years ago)

Yeah, Car Radio is a nadir for western culture.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 3 January 2015 05:04 (ten years ago)

#Selfie has to win this, surely?

Camaraderie at Arms Length, Saturday, 3 January 2015 16:27 (ten years ago)

voting for kongos

dyl, Saturday, 3 January 2015 17:35 (ten years ago)

I like that timber timbre song :(

Moka, Saturday, 3 January 2015 17:37 (ten years ago)

Even though Rude is probably not the worst of this bunch, it will likely win due to being the one that people are most familiar with since I doubt there are many who would take this seriously enough to check out every single horrible song on this list.

MarkoP, Saturday, 3 January 2015 17:57 (ten years ago)

One possible advantage of this list is that, even for those of us who followed the thread throughout the year, something like "Rude" is gonna stand out more than all of the YouTube novelties and celebrity vanity projects which anyone who has heard them has already forgotten. Public nuisances deserve our derision far more than failed memes.

MaudAddam (cryptosicko), Saturday, 3 January 2015 18:04 (ten years ago)

tempted to go with "Sheezus"

Simon H., Saturday, 3 January 2015 19:13 (ten years ago)

Voting for Ludacris because "partying actually makes me sad"-core Weeknd-esque R&B is the worst and pretty sure that song was the nail in the coffin for that particular trend

Tay-Tay Brooklynpants (Murgatroid), Saturday, 3 January 2015 19:45 (ten years ago)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR STARTING THIS POLL!!!! I have been following that Rolling Worst Songs thread all year, and holy moly there are some terrible songs on there.

Mr. Snrub, Saturday, 3 January 2015 19:52 (ten years ago)

Few songs make me straight up angry but "Best Day of My Life" always takes me there

bunny slopes, Saturday, 3 January 2015 19:53 (ten years ago)

xp Yeah but if anyone knows even one other song on this in addition to "Rude" odds are in favor of that song being perceived as worse.

Perhaps a link to the original thread would help.

billstevejim, Saturday, 3 January 2015 21:44 (ten years ago)

Where is Hideaway?

saer, Saturday, 3 January 2015 22:08 (ten years ago)

oh wow, i'd forgotten about icejjfish

uxorious gazumping (monotony), Sunday, 4 January 2015 00:09 (ten years ago)

"The ballot of bull"

(c'mon, open goal there)

MaudAddam (cryptosicko), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 12:23 (ten years ago)

"Red Hot Chili Peppers" - "Abracadabralifornia"

This sounds like a spoof RHCP song title.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 12:34 (ten years ago)

Also not heard the Scooter track, but sad to see them on here.

I like that timber timbre song :(

― Moka, Saturday, January 3, 2015 5:37 PM (3 days ago)

Yeah, me too. Whats it doing here?

everyday sheeple (Michael B), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 12:58 (ten years ago)

I have somehow managed to avoid hearing more than a few seconds of 'Rude'. My vote will probably go to 'Hello Kitty', but I might see if I can stand refreshing my memory on the others.

emil.y, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 14:08 (ten years ago)

"Rude" is probably worse, but "On Top Of The World" has invaded my life more often and more painfully, that chorus is the song equivalent of how your tv gets louder during the ad break. I can feel it bleeding into the world around me at the gym even if I'm playing something else full blast on earphones.

Tim F, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 14:52 (ten years ago)

I can't imagine much being worse than Rude. It's a gestalt of all of the most terrible North American rock songs of the last twenty five years.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 15:03 (ten years ago)

xpost RCHP

Really I had to Google that, I thought it was a joke. Even a straitjacketed Frusciante would decline participating on that.

cpl593H, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 19:27 (ten years ago)

I've managed to avoid or just not hear almost all of these, but "Rude" is just oh my fucking god bad. Voted that.

RAP GAME SHANI DAVIS (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 19:29 (ten years ago)

Oh it seems to be a joke, I'm relieved humanity hasn't gone that low yet.

cpl593H, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 19:30 (ten years ago)

But it has gone as low as "Rude."

MaudAddam (cryptosicko), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 19:38 (ten years ago)

it's kind of amazing that we can have three IceJJFish songs and "Hello Kitty" in this poll and the correct answer is STILL "Rude"

the farakhan of gg (DJP), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 19:51 (ten years ago)

Story behind the RHCP track

gman59, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 19:57 (ten years ago)

I kind of love "Rude" sorry

"One (Always Hardcore)" by Scooter was released in 2003. And it rules.

Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 20:14 (ten years ago)

Abracadabralifornia is hilarious & obviously fake

example (crüt), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 20:16 (ten years ago)

I kind of love "Rude" sorry

no need to apologize, we're just being.... (wait for it) ... rude

the farakhan of gg (DJP), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 20:17 (ten years ago)

I don't dislike the follow-up to Rude, Don't Kill The Magic, even though I know it is truly awful

boxedjoy, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 20:40 (ten years ago)

ha that encapsulates how I feel about "#Selfie"

the farakhan of gg (DJP), Tuesday, 6 January 2015 20:46 (ten years ago)

Timber Timbre's track iirc begins with a woozy vibe and "I wanna dance / I wanna dance / I wanna dance / with a black woman", which is a questionable line, even after learning it's about dude's gf. Weird thing to sing, first line of your first single

fgti, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 20:56 (ten years ago)

"selfie" is initially catchy but ultimately obnoxious, "rude" is initially obnoxious but ultimately catchy

katherine, Wednesday, 7 January 2015 00:03 (ten years ago)

"Abracadabralifornia" still makes me laugh. So dead on.

Walter Galt, Wednesday, 7 January 2015 05:49 (ten years ago)

ended up voting sheppard - total dégueulasse piece of crap song AND i learned that the father of a number of the group members is the director of a company that runs a detention centre on Manus Island

uxorious gazumping (monotony), Wednesday, 7 January 2015 06:45 (ten years ago)

tough choice between "hello kitty" and "everyone is gay"

j. winters (josh), Thursday, 8 January 2015 08:01 (ten years ago)

"everyone is gay" is extremely horrible, burn it to the ground

uxorious gazumping (monotony), Thursday, 8 January 2015 08:03 (ten years ago)

I had it narrowed down to those two as well, but went with "Everyone is Gay" based on the fact that I had been exposed to Hello Kitty the year before, possibly even in the 2013 Worst Songs thread.

MarkoP, Thursday, 8 January 2015 16:56 (ten years ago)

"selfie" is initially catchy but ultimately obnoxious, "rude" is initially obnoxious but ultimately catchy

I agree re: "#Selfie" but for me "Rude" is initially obnoxious but ultimately insanely, egregiously obnoxious

the farakhan of gg (DJP), Thursday, 8 January 2015 16:58 (ten years ago)

I feel like Car Radio is this year's handy summation of everything that is terrible about the modern rock format.

Whereas I tend to agree with katherine re: Rude. I feel like this poll ironically enough is the specific context where its essential listenability is most apparent.

(Guitar solo is still terrible, though)

buffoon watu51 (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 8 January 2015 19:05 (ten years ago)

#selfie and Rude were the most-sung songs by the kids in my house this year.

how's life, Thursday, 8 January 2015 19:33 (ten years ago)

Yeah, I just realized I actually only know what "Rude" is because it's apparently a popular tune at the preschool my girlfriend works at.

Gentle Nibbles (Old Lunch), Thursday, 8 January 2015 19:37 (ten years ago)

I know zero of these songs. I got through Rude, Car Radio and the first :30 of one of the IceJJFish things before I decided life's too short.

Losing swag by the second (Dan Peterson), Thursday, 8 January 2015 19:42 (ten years ago)

i don't understand all the vitriol towards "rude" other than being a thoroughly mediocre ubiquitous earworm when incredibly obnoxious, offensive songs like "hello kitty" and "everyone is gay" exists

j. winters (josh), Thursday, 8 January 2015 19:52 (ten years ago)

strong nominee for 2015 is kid rock "first kiss" what complete garbage jesus. when i think of like the worst radio music this hits like all the criteria

marcos, Friday, 9 January 2015 19:31 (ten years ago)

#selfie and Rude were the most-sung songs by the kids in my house car this year.

I never grew to loathe #selfie. I never got close to tolerating Rude.

something of an astrological coup (tipsy mothra), Friday, 9 January 2015 19:36 (ten years ago)

"Why you gotta be so rude?" also became a staple of household arguments.

how's life, Friday, 9 January 2015 21:08 (ten years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Sunday, 11 January 2015 00:01 (ten years ago)

Voted Hedley, inescapable on canadian radio all year.

For some reason "Best Day of My Life" was used to advertise (Toronto) Blue Jays games - before the game, during the game, and when you just tried to turn on the highlights late at night to avoid the "Best Day of My Life" Blue Jays commercials. It is therefore a close second.

dutch_justice, Sunday, 11 January 2015 00:23 (ten years ago)

is "best day of my life" one of those songs that was secretly written for a commercial but then got released as a full song?

dyl, Sunday, 11 January 2015 03:59 (ten years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Monday, 12 January 2015 00:01 (ten years ago)

Somehow "she looks so perfect" came out unscathed haha.

dutch_justice, Monday, 12 January 2015 01:14 (ten years ago)

ugh I *definitely* would've voted for it (had I remembered to do so)

I can just, like, YOLO with Uber (bernard snowy), Monday, 12 January 2015 01:30 (ten years ago)
