GYBE! = Glass rip off?

A friend of mine brought up a notion that the new Godspeed record is, basically, a Phillip Glass rip off. His arguement was that the last two tracks (or 2/3's of the record) sounds like it came right off of the score to Powaqqatsi by Reggio. It struck me kind of funny at first, but once i thought about it more, their themes are completely similiar, in that GSYBE!'s whole stance on technology encrouching on nature mirror's that of the film. Anyone else having or had similiar thoughts?

yes, this is a beautiful connection, your friend should be rewarded with something wonderful and unique:
give him head.

is the record just maddening and endlessly repetitive oscillating arpeggios for 74 minutes? if so godspeed is even more boring than i previously thought

that would make them interesting.

6 days after the new Sigur Ros. Honestly, you wait for one good album and then two come along at once...

Yup -- the Chameleons' Neverending Now and Soft Cell's Cruelty Without Beauty. Mmm.

The early stuff also bears a passing resemblance to Tubular Bells

Yet their mailing fans always clamour over spegetti westerns.

Ned, you also forgot The Church's Parallel Universe. Three albums at once!

I'm holding out less hope for the new GY!BE than I am for the Sigur Ros, but I have to admit that I'm holding out even less hope for the new Church album...they haven't had a particularly stellar record lately. And I used to love them so! O lost!

GYBE should do 2 sets each night of their next tour. The first can be Powaqqatsi and the second can be Ummagumma
