First single "Heartbeat Song." It's cool. It's good. It's, as Vox points out, "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World.

yeah i don't like it tho
― dyl, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 02:10 (ten years ago)
yeah not anything special, but still it was so nice to have kelly clark$on back, i welcomed her
― some dude, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 02:13 (ten years ago)
Jesus, we're not at third-wave emo revivalism already, are we?
― Futuristic Bow Wow (thewufs), Tuesday, 13 January 2015 02:21 (ten years ago)
yeah this is underwhelming
― lex pretend, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 09:07 (ten years ago)
I get the comparison, but even the chords are different, to my ears, both in the verse and the chorus. They share some loose arrangements similarities, I guess. Her corrected vocals are piercing.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 20:33 (ten years ago)
deserves a better chorus
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Tuesday, 13 January 2015 20:44 (ten years ago)

Who is the "SME" that pulled the video down, btw? iirc it was an official Kelly Clarkson yt page upload.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 20:46 (ten years ago)
Ah, Sony Music Entertainment.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 13 January 2015 20:49 (ten years ago)
apropos of this song and "miss independent" I really want kelly to cover "lay all your love on me"
― katherine, Tuesday, 20 January 2015 11:37 (ten years ago)
Chorus is very annoying, she's turning out worse and worse singles each year
― MrExplorer, Friday, 23 January 2015 07:11 (ten years ago)
this album is so awful :(
― lex pretend, Friday, 27 February 2015 10:46 (ten years ago)
Oh no.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 27 February 2015 14:09 (ten years ago)
can't say i'm surprised based on the pre-release tracks so far
― dyl, Friday, 27 February 2015 14:50 (ten years ago)
Yeah I had no expectations for this and I'm still kinda underwhelmed.
― Greer, Friday, 27 February 2015 14:54 (ten years ago)
i like the john legend song
― if you're reading this is an ed sheeran album (o_sailor), Friday, 27 February 2015 15:59 (ten years ago)
Eh, this isn't as bad as I was led to believe. Too much midtempo sludge that all blurs into itself, but some of the speedier songs with big choruses are really nice. "War Paint" in particular.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 March 2015 06:15 (ten years ago)
a couple songs have glaringly bad aesthetic decisions but overall i think it's decent on first listen
btw deep cutssssss: http://narrowcast.blogspot.com/2015/02/deep-album-cuts-vol-34-kelly-clarkson.html

I noticed you included Just Missed the Train. I've made a Spotify playlist of all the versions of that Danielle Brisebois wondersong that I know of. http://open.spotify.com/user/mondosalvo/playlist/6eQAQCW9AKZXv694gZ75mP

How do people rate her albums in general? I know Breakaway is her big seller but is it also seen as her best? I know My December has its fans too but don't really know about her other albums.
― Kitchen Person, Thursday, 5 March 2015 18:31 (ten years ago)
Breakaway > All I Ever Wanted > My December >>>>>>>>>> the other ones
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 March 2015 18:47 (ten years ago)
Breakaway > My December > Stronger > All I Ever Wanted > Thankful
― Greer, Thursday, 5 March 2015 19:01 (ten years ago)
Oh and I'd put the Christmas album right after My December.
― Greer, Thursday, 5 March 2015 19:02 (ten years ago)
Agree with Fever but props to the Christmas album for providing a non-gross version of Baby It's Cold Outside
― Leonard Pine, Thursday, 5 March 2015 19:10 (ten years ago)
My December is the best of her albums by a gazillion miles imoBreakaway is great tooStronger is good, has great momentsThe rest get a NOPE
― lex pretend, Thursday, 5 March 2015 20:28 (ten years ago)
Lex, are you anticipating her inevitable country record or nah
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 March 2015 20:35 (ten years ago)
Just reaffirmed to myself that "I Do Not Hook Up," "Cry," and "Don't Let Me Stop You" is the strongest 3-song run on any of her albums.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 March 2015 20:46 (ten years ago)
Breakaway > My December > Stronger > Wrapped In Red > All I Ever Wanted > Piece By Piece > Thankful
― some dude, Thursday, 5 March 2015 21:15 (ten years ago)
I wanted the shane mcanally tracks on this to be good but jesus christ
― katherine, Thursday, 5 March 2015 21:43 (ten years ago)
I only just listened to All I Ever Wanted and really enjoyed it. Found it quite consistent. Even liked the Halo one.
― Kitchen Person, Thursday, 5 March 2015 22:41 (ten years ago)
i would never ever have guessed there were shane mcanally songs on this sans credits

re: country record
yeah this album is ... not good, from what i've heard. but heartbeat is so pretttty
― surm, Thursday, 7 May 2015 03:30 (ten years ago)
she really should have just included this on the album 5 times and called it a day:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3LYZlDwRJ4
― surm, Thursday, 7 May 2015 05:40 (ten years ago)
I didn't like this album at first (all the mid-tempo songs are front-loaded, the better uptempo ones buried at the end) but it grew on me more than I expected. "Nostalgic" should totally be a single, but it probably won't. See also "You Love Me" from the last album.
