Mos def! I don't know how many influences one can already have at 17 and put it into practice like this, but it can't be the whole palate. For what I've read he's oblivious about what his music sounds like and just does his thing. There's a genuineness in this that just floors me. I could listen to Borderline for hours and hours on end.

Not sure I'm so completely won over, Ariel Pink looms large, but I am enjoying "Borderline" (lyric about being "the queen of urban boys and white-trash kids" notwithstanding). TBH, I got distracted by tumblr rapper kitty pryde last time through, so I'm only now listening to the next two tracks. Which don't quite measure up, as it turns out. Music is nice, but the voice & manner are obstacles. Anyway, if you're into this stuff, you really oughtta check out the Kitty Pryde track abcfsk just posted. Thread connections 2015.

The three songs I put in here somehow add up for me, though. And I think it's baffling this guy is just 17 years old - to get so many styles and influences into a single song, or songs. But that could just be #lololdpeople as I'm twice his age. His manners don't form an obstacle to me personally, though I see what you mean.
