oh fuck, the poll closing date is incorrect. is there a way we can change it to 1/26/2015

j. winters (josh), Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:34 (ten years ago)

i love 'zebra' enough that i'm confident it'll still be my favorite in 2 years

ciderpress, Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:36 (ten years ago)

oh god this is hilariously embarrassing

j. winters (josh), Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:42 (ten years ago)

take care

Treeship, Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:43 (ten years ago)

i was actually going to make a poll that was beach house's take care vs. drake's take care the other day, but decided against it

Treeship, Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:44 (ten years ago)

srsly tho, can we change the poll closing date to 1/26/15

j. winters (josh), Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:45 (ten years ago)

no. i think this debate needs some time to play out.

Treeship, Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:46 (ten years ago)

in all seriousness, though, the mods will change it. i love this album and i am glad it's getting polled but the fact that it is five years old is sort of disturbing to me.

Treeship, Thursday, 22 January 2015 23:49 (ten years ago)

Leave it like this. I love when old polls show up.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 23 January 2015 02:16 (ten years ago)

the mods will change it

no they won't

guess why

don't ask me why i posted this (electricsound), Friday, 23 January 2015 02:23 (ten years ago)

We are but playthings to the mods?

men without hat tips (Hunt3r), Friday, 23 January 2015 02:35 (ten years ago)

srsly tho, can we change the poll closing date to 1/26/15

they can't change things, what they can do is close this poll so you can start a new one. i have tried in the past thus the reason why i can answer for them.

will listen again before voting.

<3 this album

(•̪●) (carne asada), Friday, 23 January 2015 03:33 (ten years ago)

these guys are surely due for new stuff soon. nothing last year broke their streak of a new album every 2 years

i think this album is ok, "bloom" is much better imo. my fave here is "walk in the park"

bae sremmurd (monotony), Friday, 23 January 2015 03:59 (ten years ago)

i prefer this one to bloom, even though bloom sounds more polished.

Treeship, Friday, 23 January 2015 04:06 (ten years ago)

walk in the park is a good choice though. definitely my second choice after take care... for a long time it would have been my number one too. "in a matter of time / it would slip from my mind" is kind of a haunting lyric, this idea of planned obsolescence.

Treeship, Friday, 23 January 2015 04:08 (ten years ago)

First four tracks are one of my favorite runs ever, I'm not even sure what the mood is it always puts me in but there's nothing else like it.
It kills me how in the last 30 seconds of Take Care the guitar just really kicks into high gear, track needs another two minutes of release rather than a fade out. Great guitar all over this album.

went with walk in the park.
More, you want more, you tell me more

dutch_justice, Friday, 23 January 2015 20:00 (ten years ago)

listening to the album again, i think walk in the park is actually slightly better than take care. i fucked up.

Treeship, Friday, 23 January 2015 21:33 (ten years ago)

Silver Soul

monster_xero, Friday, 23 January 2015 22:36 (ten years ago)

two years pass...

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Tuesday, 31 January 2017 00:01 (eight years ago)

lmao totally forgot about this

j. winters (josh), Tuesday, 31 January 2017 00:03 (eight years ago)

Shucks this is tough. My gut says 10 Mile Stereo, but almost every track could be a contender for me.

Chantilly Bass, Tuesday, 31 January 2017 02:00 (eight years ago)

voted take care, only track i remember liking. i'll revisit - beach house frustrates me. besides a few brilliant & beautiful songs (sparks, heart of chambers, majorette) - i've never cottoned much to them. all a bit one ear out the other. but i thought it was really cool gesture releasing two albums practically back to back in 2015

flappy bird, Tuesday, 31 January 2017 02:22 (eight years ago)

I went with Norway. It's my favourite Beach House song.

Kitchen Person, Tuesday, 31 January 2017 02:37 (eight years ago)

Take Care is the best

Treeship, Tuesday, 31 January 2017 02:42 (eight years ago)

I forgot what I voted for

(•̪●) (carne asada), Tuesday, 31 January 2017 03:46 (eight years ago)

i went with silver soul, although it plops along for maybe a bit too long. but hey, i like that plop.
if i could ii would vote for just the last minute and a half or so of "used to be" (the 'coming home any day now' coda) if it didn't come packaged with the rest of the song, which is maybe my least favorite part of the album. that song is like surviving a 6-hour trip to grandma's in the back of a cramped car and then opening the door and stretching in the grass for a while.

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 31 January 2017 16:46 (eight years ago)

Wow, I feel exactly the opposite about "Used to Be." The first few minutes of that song is probably my favorite part of the album, and to me the outro/coda is comparatively boring. Different strokes, I guess. Ended up voting for "Walk In the Park."

J. Sam, Tuesday, 31 January 2017 17:25 (eight years ago)

this album has held up so well

ciderpress, Tuesday, 31 January 2017 17:28 (eight years ago)

'zebra', 'walk in the park', 'take care' are all A+

ciderpress, Tuesday, 31 January 2017 17:28 (eight years ago)

this is such a fantastic album, it took a long time to grow on me for some reason though. i had it for about 6 years before i finally really got into it last year, and for about a month it was one of only a couple albums i listened to.

silver soul vs walk in the park vs 10 mile stereo vs take care

marcos, Tuesday, 31 January 2017 17:30 (eight years ago)

"Walk in the Park" to walk it.
This made me listen to the album last night for the first time in a while, it's so great. Probably the first record of theirs to break through into the epic feel of a lot of their later work, which I love.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

the last minute and a half or so of "used to be" (the 'coming home any day now' coda)

The new Matt Pond PA, Winter Lives, has a very nice cover of this track, a highlight on an overall excellent record.
