I can post youtube links but I'm at work and cannot check the audio quality, so it'll be the first result that comes up. I can make sure tomorrow's entries work though.
― daavid, Monday, 9 February 2015 15:08 (ten years ago)
BTW, can someone remind me how do I post youtube links without embedding?

I've always felt "I Like Chopin" is a little corny but the synth riff in the intro is one of my favorite things ever! In fact, the whole intro on the extended version is kind of amazing.
"Walkin'" is sublime

was about to let loose the biggest TOO LOW of all time there before i realised it was Eyes. good track regardless, this is all so aesthetically and aurally pleasing so fr as expected.
― ewar woowar (or something), Monday, 9 February 2015 16:39 (ten years ago)
yeah this isn't the Clio I voted for but tbh it's probably the better track
― example (crüt), Monday, 9 February 2015 16:40 (ten years ago)
I voted 'Faces', both are good but the whole is better than the part.
― emil.y, Monday, 9 February 2015 16:42 (ten years ago)
nah crut, you were right first time.
― ewar woowar (or something), Monday, 9 February 2015 16:43 (ten years ago)
Eyes is an awesome track and only just missed out on my ballot.
I'm not a big fan of Dhuo - Walkin' tbh it's a bit plodding and feels more like bad synthpop than exciting Italo.
― Siegbran, Monday, 9 February 2015 16:49 (ten years ago)

Nothing I voted for has turned up yet but still <3 everything so far. Never really heard the much vaunted new order italo influence but they must have heard Dancing Therapy before making Bizarre Love Triangle.
― ewar woowar (or something), Monday, 9 February 2015 17:28 (ten years ago)
'Eyes' is great but yeah I voted for 'Faces' instead.
I remember seeking 'I Like Chopin' out after reading the Pet Shop Boys saying it inspired the sound of 'Rent'.
― Gavin, Leeds, Monday, 9 February 2015 17:38 (ten years ago)
excited for this poll!
never heard this dhuo track before, 'snice - i'm a fan of lower-bpm italo (under the ice, comanchero, etc)
<3 dancing therapy but i didn't vote for it

I dug out Everlasting Fever on Friday and gave it a spin at our mainly italo-focussed night after being reminded how good it was on your mix.
Also played on Friday by another DJ was this one I don‘t recall being aware of before, but I am currently addicted to:
Bryvan Stage - Wayout!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBsiC9K-ZSI

new to me track i heard a DJ play at an italo night tonight, so killerJerry Moon - Over and Overhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlqPntfyxEk

^That's awesome.
I heard this for the first time earlier this year, probably the most beautiful italo track I've ever heard (doesn't seem to be mentioned in this thread):

a vinyl IG account i follow posted this today, remembered that i was fully obsessed with this one earlier this year. arguably closer to hi-NRG/new wave than italo proper but a banger all the sameCube - Concert Boyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF_z1CsYJCY
― donna rouge, Thursday, 15 December 2022 16:50 (two years ago)
Concert boy b/w Building on Land is a great single, both sides. I remember the Cube album being decent too!
― Michael F Gill, Thursday, 15 December 2022 17:50 (two years ago)
I wasn't familiar with Cube until I DJ'd an empty saturday at the record store Superior Elevation followed by Jexopolis who played them.
― dan selzer, Thursday, 15 December 2022 18:09 (two years ago)
when i was 14 i had a friend who kept trying to make me listen to cube, but i never did because i was dumb :(
have liked what i've heard subsequently though - they sound pretty similar to new musik i think?
― o shit the sheriff (NickB), Thursday, 15 December 2022 18:44 (two years ago)
not Italo whatsoever, but this was the new wave band that Paul Griffiths was in before Cube, 10CC-esque nerdy power pop, pretty cool i think?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdHvNS9YEZgStadium Dogs - Easybeat (1978)
― o shit the sheriff (NickB), Thursday, 15 December 2022 19:03 (two years ago)
and getting back to Italo business, he also played guitar on this amazingness:

― o shit the sheriff (NickB), Thursday, 15 December 2022 19:09 (two years ago)
I first heard "Concert Boy" in 2020 and it quickly became my Lockdown-Summer-Bike-Ride-Earbuds jam
― gr8080, Thursday, 15 December 2022 19:15 (two years ago)
Concert Boy is a total total hammer and I am now reminded I need to get it into my collection. I didn’t know the connection with Jo Squillo - the LP that track is on is pretty great.
― Chewshabadoo, Friday, 16 December 2022 00:30 (two years ago)
Didnt know Concert Boy, it's very Stacrk Club.

I usually don't find much charm in many modern remixes of italo classics, but this version hits the spot:
Kano - IT'S A WAR (Purple Disco Machine & Lorenz Rhode Remix)

these two claudio corradini tracks just got reissued by dark entries, orig. copies of each go for $100+ on discogs so i'm very glad of it. both killer, esp. love the alex molo track:

― dan selzer, Wednesday, 15 March 2023 21:21 (two years ago)
yeah two of them i absolutely knew and have heard but couldn’t remember the artist or title. #9 was totally new to me. still the highest score i’ve ever gotten on a Blind Test video lol
― donna rouge, Wednesday, 15 March 2023 22:16 (two years ago)
Got 7.5, but was hoping for a 9 at least. It’s back to Italo school for me. Number 9 was new to me too.
In other news, I’ve been a bit obsessed with this one the last couple of weeks:

They did an initial vinyl run, but it sold out immediately. I think I read there will be a repress.
― Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 7 November 2024 08:58 (eight months ago)
Would be happy to buy digital but sounds like they might not have those rights?
― dan selzer, Thursday, 7 November 2024 11:21 (eight months ago)
repress of that 'spacer woman' cover is out now, i just ordered a copy from sound metaphors (not the cheapest option as a USian but they had a bunch of other stuff i wanted too)

bumped the obit thread too but noting here that Celso Valli has passed, he had a hand in a lot of the tracks mentioned or voted for on this thread (including the song quoted in the thread title) and so much else besides, a real legend. just a small sample of his considerable oeuvre:
lama - love on the rocks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldsYdX8pxNk
azoto - exalt exalt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB8bFf8iGtU
peter richard - walking in the neon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odjqqtCWywE
and this stunning ballad:
blue gas - shadows from nowhere https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYklI_5CoRs
― donna rouge, Monday, 28 July 2025 13:42 (five days ago)
total giant.

Azoto's Anytime or Place may be my most played 12" in disco sets.
― dan selzer, Monday, 28 July 2025 14:54 (five days ago)
One of the absolute best.
― Chewshabadoo, Tuesday, 29 July 2025 13:19 (four days ago)
One of the quirkier ones is this one which my DJ buddy HP Sorcery plays a lot, so good:

I just realised that he also had a hand in this rather singular new-wave-esque italo track, yet another banger:
