Eric Burdon & War, On Drugs (Cosmic Slop), Thursday, 19 February 2015 23:55 (eleven years ago)

Most festival lineups in the past five years are interchangeable and indistinguishable from one another.

Tay-Tay Brooklynpants (Murgatroid), Friday, 20 February 2015 00:00 (eleven years ago)

i feel like the promoters arent even trying here

Eric Burdon & War, On Drugs (Cosmic Slop), Friday, 20 February 2015 00:09 (eleven years ago)

a) if I were sorry enough to be one of Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, I'd be quietly devastated by this poster; b) I'm amazed at the low billing of Jessie Ware and Modest Mouse.

Simon H., Friday, 20 February 2015 00:09 (eleven years ago)

Modest Mouse (the only band on the bill i like) have never had any hits in the UK

Eric Burdon & War, On Drugs (Cosmic Slop), Friday, 20 February 2015 00:10 (eleven years ago)

Charli XCX is also really low.

Van Horn Street, Friday, 20 February 2015 00:12 (eleven years ago)

Hard to justify Jessie Ware being any higher on that bill. There's a couple of things I'd see on the Friday and the Saturday, but the Sunday looks pretty dire.

bae sremmurd (monotony), Friday, 20 February 2015 00:20 (eleven years ago)

admittedly I am prejudiced in that I have no fucking idea who the wombats are

Simon H., Friday, 20 February 2015 00:25 (eleven years ago)

I hadn't even noticed Jessie J was playing

Eric Burdon & War, On Drugs (Cosmic Slop), Friday, 20 February 2015 00:28 (eleven years ago)

T in the Park is always wey-heytheladslagerlagerlager though isn't it so mid-tempo hands-in-the-air rock singalongs always the order of the day.

everything, Friday, 20 February 2015 00:58 (eleven years ago)

It wasnt like that when it started in Strathclyde Park, Hamilton.

Eric Burdon & War, On Drugs (Cosmic Slop), Friday, 20 February 2015 00:59 (eleven years ago)

Sunday night line-up on the first T in the Park, Strathclyde Park July 1994:

Primal Scream
Del Amitri
Teenage Fanclub
Crowded House
The Saw Doctors
Gun
Grant Lee Buffalo
Baby Chaos

everything, Friday, 20 February 2015 01:06 (eleven years ago)

Id rather see Primal Scream headline T In The Park over Primark Scream who headline this years.

Eric Burdon & War, On Drugs (Cosmic Slop), Friday, 20 February 2015 01:07 (eleven years ago)

Holy shit, that line-up's fucking awful!

You’re being too simplistic and you’re insulting my poor heart (Turrican), Friday, 20 February 2015 01:59 (eleven years ago)

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds headlining over The Prodigy? #scotland

You’re being too simplistic and you’re insulting my poor heart (Turrican), Friday, 20 February 2015 02:00 (eleven years ago)

the prodigy headlined in 95 (was amazing). the next year they played about 3rd on the bill so in daylightdespite having had #1s and being huge. I forget if it was Pulp or Radiohead headlined that day. (i saw Leftfield instead of Radiohead and Afghan Whigs instead of Pulp)

Eric Burdon & War, On Drugs (Cosmic Slop), Friday, 20 February 2015 03:04 (eleven years ago)

Leftfield finished about 20 mins before the curfew time so i left early to get a taxi up the road (was too knackered to walk 15 mins up the hill ) and i walked outside to the surreal site of 200 riot police in full kit. Nobody else around. Apparently a few hours earlier some motherwell casuals had crossed the park to try burst their way in. (half the park is in Hamilton half is in Motherwell and TITP was on the Hamilton side)

Eric Burdon & War, On Drugs (Cosmic Slop), Friday, 20 February 2015 03:07 (eleven years ago)

the Kink Festival in Orlando last year had a solid 1-2 punch conclusion of Gojira and Mastodon, but the rest of the lineup was...

Puddle of Mudd
Nonpoint
Devour the Day
Crobot
Islander

the Puddle of Mudd show was so embarrassingly bad. at one point Wes (the lead singer) went on a weird (probably substance-inspired) rambling monologue, and then he says "so I talked to my mother this morning" and my friend yells back "and she said 'make sure to lock up when you come in tonight!'".

also they did a limp dicked cover of War Pigs god I wanted to murder em.

but seriously tho I know Mastodon/Gojira have a wider appeal than other metal bands but who the fuck thought pairing them with nu-metal acts that nobody likes anymore was a good idea.

oh and hardly anybody showed up until the last two bands, apparently the festival was a huge bust and did poorly financially

Hammer Smashed Bagels, Friday, 20 February 2015 03:12 (eleven years ago)

what a strange kind of festival to have gojira and puddle of mudd. I suppose mastodon have softened a bit so possibly could have fans of both but....

Never heard of the others.

Eric Burdon & War, On Drugs (Cosmic Slop), Friday, 20 February 2015 03:15 (eleven years ago)

Nonpoint are having some kind of resurgence apparently. they opened for Megadeth and they had a fuckin' street team at the show (wtf is this 1999).

Hammer Smashed Bagels, Friday, 20 February 2015 03:17 (eleven years ago)

weirdly heartened to hear that puddle of mudd are still going

bizarro gazzara, Friday, 20 February 2015 11:07 (eleven years ago)

Guilfest wins this title every year but yeah, for a festival as big as T in the Park this is wretched.

Gutted that Wireless, which is around the corner from me, has leaned EDM this year. Kendrick and Nicki Minaj are playing, but Avicii and David Guetta are headlining. Clearly this is the summer of the EDM hacks.

Minaj moron (Re-Make/Re-Model), Friday, 20 February 2015 11:36 (eleven years ago)

I keep forgetting that people like The Script and Twin Atlantic (a) exist and (b) are huge. Only on ILM would anyone be surprised that Jessie Ware and Charli XCX are low on the bill.

Minaj moron (Re-Make/Re-Model), Friday, 20 February 2015 11:38 (eleven years ago)

New Prodigy single is the worst thing you will hear at that festival or at least joint worst.

nashwan, Friday, 20 February 2015 11:47 (eleven years ago)

it's very terrible, this is true.

I, (dog latin), Friday, 20 February 2015 12:10 (eleven years ago)

My vote goes to T in the Park 2015 (10-12 July)

Note Nonpoint (here sadly identified as Non Point) crossover, but the lineup's a million times worse than the Orlando festival HSB mentioned.

i take it that wasn't what rollins meant when he said he was going to rise above

The Pixies seem like an incongruous inclusion too.

Birds in Hell, Sunday, 22 February 2015 17:53 (eleven years ago)

what's with all the bands having preplanned album sets. I mean I know this is a thing now and I've seen many shows like this and have no objection to the format, but the choices for the album are a bit weird. ie why aren't Deftones doing "White Pony", I know people like "Around the Fur" but it's pretty far removed from who they are as a band now. I realize "And Out Come the Wolves" was Rancid's commercial breakthrough but it isn't as if it sounds that different from their other albums, a mixed set would be more fun from them.

Offspring performing Americana? fucking terrible album! at least when they did Smash in its entirety last year it was fun to relive all of the songs that got me excited as a 13 year old.

Mostly tho this poster looks like it was pulled from 2003.

Redlight King, god they are so bad

Hammer Smashed Bagels, Sunday, 22 February 2015 18:00 (eleven years ago)

re: Rise Above Fest, Butcher Babies are one of the worst bands I've ever fucking heard. There are plenty of phenomenal female-fronted metal/rock bands out there that are making great music. This one insults the audience by pretending these bands don't exist and presenting female-fronted metal as a novelty, solely playing off of the hotness of its two leads, while playing generic nu-metal that sounds fresh out of 2001.

Hammer Smashed Bagels, Sunday, 22 February 2015 18:16 (eleven years ago)

some decent (and once-decent) acts playing the amnesia fest. lost in time, but not complete garbage.

describing a scene in which the Hulk gets a boner (contenderizer), Sunday, 22 February 2015 18:24 (eleven years ago)

I would go for Slayer, Bad Religion, Descendents, All, Buzzcocks, Flogging Molly, Coheed (fuck off), Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Melvins, Fear Factory, Down, and Propagandhi. not a bad lineup at all.

Hammer Smashed Bagels, Sunday, 22 February 2015 18:32 (eleven years ago)

Are they taking the vengabus to download?

Toshirō Nofune (The Seventh ILXorai), Friday, 16 May 2025 20:23 (nine months ago)

Yo, if you show up on Sunday to see Meshuggah, Jinjer, Power Trip, Municipal Waste and Turbonegro, you could have a pretty good time. Post denied.

whenever i see steel panther, i have to bring up the factoid that the band's guitarist has a line of guitar pedals carrying names so great that i have to put the examples in hidden text. you've been warned.

the pussy melter and the butthole burner. delightful.

Constance Mischievous (Austin), Friday, 16 May 2025 20:38 (nine months ago)

Yeah, I think there are four bands on that entire bill I would be happy to see, including the Darkness. And one band on that entire bill I have paid to see in the past, and would pay to see again (Meshuggah). But by and large, that whole fest looks 90% composed of bands you would have seen in the noon slot at Ozzfest.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 16 May 2025 20:45 (nine months ago)

I mean, I could craft a day with Opeth, Alcest, Power Trip and Cattle Decapitation.

Why do so many of them have B2B in their names?

Baronet Drowned in Night Frolic (President Keyes), Monday, 22 September 2025 01:46 (five months ago)

B2B means the named DJs collabing

( X '____' )/ (zappi), Monday, 22 September 2025 01:53 (five months ago)

Ok “Angerfist” is a dope name

Mr. T's Ballroom (Boring, Maryland), Monday, 22 September 2025 02:31 (five months ago)

8 for me. (I wouldn’t go unless tabes had a +1.)

B2B means that DJs who normally play alone are trading off, record after record, taking their cue from the previous selector. In a club environment, this can be fun because the audience feedback can shape the night more directly, with clever follow-ons or pranks acknowledged by a crowd attuned to the styles being played.

At a festival it’s more of an escape clause for DJs to not get frustrated at building a set with peaks and valleys, only to see it fall on uncaring or over-intoxicated young ears; at least you and your pals are having fun riffing off or one-upping each other, and you don’t have to worry about losing the crowd (or “losing” the b2b) if they have no attention span.

Nancy Makes Posts (sic), Monday, 22 September 2025 02:53 (five months ago)

In my experience, B2Bs rarely work well unless there's already established chemistry there.

Rock The Country is more than just a festival, it’s a celebration of community, tradition, and the spirit that’s carried America through 250 years. It’s where neighbors become friends, families come together under the wide-open sky, and folks from every walk of life share the simple joy of great music and good company.

Ludacris has dropped off the Rock the Country traveling festival tour.

A representative for the Atlanta rapper told Rolling Stone that there was “a mix-up” about Luda’s inclusion on the lineup. “Lines got crossed and he wasn’t supposed to be on there,” the rep claimed.

Yeah, no shit.

The backlash from Ludacris’ then involvement with the festival swelled almost immediately, with fans left confused and wondering why the “Southern Hospitality” rapper would include himself on this particular festival bill.

I think that’s just the state of mainstream rock music in the 2020s. I know people who still listen to it and don’t appear to notice the dearth of new bands.

And Scooter is performing on day 3 for some reason. Maybe I don’t get it, but it makes sense to festival-going UK millennial rock fans?

Claude Deb***y (naus), Tuesday, 24 February 2026 20:47 (four days ago)

Thankfully the UK has Bloodstock, Incineration, Damnation, Desertfest, Fortress, Life After Death and a ton of other smaller fests for metal/rock adjacent stuff so Download being bad doesn't really matter?
