the church vs rem

too feeble to let go

This is a quality vs. quantity debate for me. I like a lot more R.E.M. material than Church material, but I love the Heyday and Starfish albums so much more than any R.E.M. albums.

have you heard their 2014 album? they're doing tons of it on their current tour. rem's run from "chronic town" through pageant is killer but i am astonished by music the church is making now, and new adventures was the last time i could say that about rem

In some objective realm, REM are probably a better band, but as The Church are psychedelic, I feel less oppressed or overwhelmed by the personality of the music. I find it hard to listen to REM without feeling constantly reminded that I'm listening to REM.

I voted REM, but I will take the guitar intro to "Unguarded Moment" over any REM song.

Great poll idea, but REM's highs were higher and there were more of them. The Church continued putting out good albums well after REM ran out of steam, so I guess that counts for something though
