Really pleased I found a name for this. I thought I might find discussion of this in the Parks and Recreation thread because of the Andy character but couldn't see anything.

the dungbiscuit from The Calling used to sing kinda like this.

let's see....

the guy from U.P.O. (anybody remember them? nahhhh) who sang that song "Godless" was totally guilty of this shit.

and then there was that chunderchurner from Oleander

god this is making me remember really bad music

Mastodon and Baroness approach this style, albeit with more burl and less dang.

fuck me, archipelago (Simon H.), Tuesday, 17 March 2015 23:58 (ten years ago)

and the guy from Lifehouse, wish he'd been pushed out of that fucking airplane

I remember being put off Corrosion Of Conformity for this but I've heard people say they're a really great band.

i don't really hear that style of singing in Pepper's voice (assuming that's the era you mean)? that NC drawl of his is pretty authentic rather than a lifted affectation and always endeared me to his voice...

sorry, Mississipi ...not NC

"I think the biggest thing nowadays is more moral issues than political issues. I mean, the Bible means a lot more to me than the Constitution and any f----n politics involved in this country or any other country. If somebody falls down on the ground you pick 'em up. You think clearly like that and everything else comes into place."

Man wtf Pepper, n/m hate them now
