Might also link this for reference, but who knows how much of a connection there'll be.

They clearly waited a day for just that reason.

Few details have emerged, but the involvement of David Bowie, who has composed several original songs, revamped old ones and written the book with the Irish playwright Enda Walsh, guaranteed avid interest.

Mr. Bowie, who declined to comment for this article, conceived the show as a sort of sequel to “The Man Who Fell to Earth,” the 1963 Walter Tevis novel that inspired the 1976 Nicolas Roeg film, in which Mr. Bowie starred as Thomas Newton, a louche, orange-haired extraterrestrial. Here, Newton will be played by Michael C. Hall, late of “Dexter” and “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”

“Lazarus,” which begins performances on Wednesday, Nov. 18, and opens on Dec. 7, is one of the most anticipated works of the fall season and easily the most closely guarded

Cast recording now out, plus three songs included in the musical and also recorded by Bowie with the Blackstar ensemble but not released on said album. Will be an interesting listen -- and I still can't believe that they planned for the cast recording on the day that turned out in the end to be the day after he died. That whole three, four days from the release of Blackstar to his death was such an emotional whiplash.

interested in the new songs, not so interestedi n the cast recording...

Of the three songs from the Blackstar sessions, I like one a lot (but not so much that I can't live without it) and am lukewarm on the other two. I am definitely not buying this thing.

xpost -- I'm interested in both -- indeed, just got it today from Amoeba -- because inevitably that's what happens now: it'll be tributes and covers from now on, no more original songs to add to what's there. And that's how to keep things going.

You say that like it's a good thing.

I saw this, though I didn't pay for my ticket. This song was definitely was one of the high points, and was better live than on recording (though the recording is good). It was a weird show, but I'm glad I saw it, especially given the timing of everything. Since nobody can go back in time to see the show, I'm not sure what else to say.
