this thread will likely slip off sna in record time but i've been going through the discog of stian gjevik (EOD, CN, Radio-Logg) and it is remarkably consistent and great. same sort of acid funk as AFX has been doing since the analords but a greater tendency towards chiptune-ish timbres and a higher degree of melodicism than the kinds of process music like the extended jams on analord 9 (& like such as)
this will not appeal to the "why can't it be 1999 again" burnt-out former idm mavens of ilx but if you appreciate the classicist tendency of techno there's a lot to enjoy. it's a shame he never gets talked about outside of the circlejerk watmm fanboys bc he is one of the most prolific producers of recent years (and a nice fix if repeated listening to the analords has created an unfortunate tolerance to their joys, like me)
the EAP tracks has a normal cd-length release but there's also a self-released 71-track version and it's all mostly worthwhile, often bordering on great.

wémè and central processing unit seem like a label to follow; some kind of mass exodus of rephlex ppl going on -- just exploring at random i have yet to be really disappointed by any of their releases
this is not EOD but v good - FAH (the great-real-named robin de bekker) tends more towards UR-style minimalist detroit type trax

i suppose i should make this a general thread for weme/cpu/post-rephlex and similar producers.
dave monolith (aka david barnard, bernard davies, mnlth, photodementia, etc) has been mining this vein v effectively for the past 6 years or so to almost no fanfare -- the programming on "welcome" is at least equal to the tuss records but i find him more imminently listenable and enjoyable than those releases. also has gotten +/- no attention from anyone. he has a knack for shifting fluid basslines and tracks that go in surprising directions:

i found out about dave monolith's "welcome" from hardwax, and i like that one alright
i find this striking:
there's also a self-released 71-track version

yeah i guess they were just tracks that he would add to whenever and arbitrarily stopped at one point. it's surprising how even the quality is throughout.

i posted about aleksi perala's recent music in an ancient astrobotnia "is it afx????" thread which ofc went unnoticed -- the "colundi sequence" releases are incredible https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81XMr6eieGY

Cloudface album from last year (on opal tapes) was really nicehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAB0KXFKeeE
― brimstead, Friday, 17 April 2015 04:56 (ten years ago)
listened to the cloudface album a few times and it doesn't strike me as particularly special, but i haven't been overly impressed with anything on opal tapes. something about their releases is always "curated" seeming, too tasteful, lends itself too easily to being ignored. it is "nice" for sure but i think it's also kinda dull. (although all those things have been said abt the examples in this thread ofc)

lots of new releases on EOD's bandcamp -- the EODS series (up to 6 now) is particularly fantastic. by far my favorite techno musician working now.

sorry, too busy downloading the entire automatic tasty discography
no seriously, this is brilliant -- like the ventolin ep/melodies from mars but with better production values. will be with this one for a while, thanks
