Poll: Boyz II Men Acapella

As a kid I was actually under the impression that they were an acapella group cause Yesterday and Hard to Say Goodbye were all I ever seemed to hear from them. As it turns out there aren't actually that many of these but they sounded so good when they did this shit.

"End of the Road" really only has that one bit at the end so I disqualify it.

"Yesterday" is a nice arrangement, but I think "I Do" is my favorite. technically bass and drums show up later but most of it is a capella and it's got a catchy melody and sweet harmonies.

oh crap didn't realize they did an a capella version of it later. well I didn't like it as much as the w/ instruments version anyway.

wait where is "Thank You" on this list?

Hammer Smashed Bagels, Saturday, 6 June 2015 21:16 (ten years ago)

Yeah there weren't really any concrete rules for this and I love Thank You and the omission is egregious but somehow that felt less a capella to me than I Do.

Probably wouldn't have hurt to put more thought into the poll but I didn't think it would generate much interest

I Do is over produced but that arrangement is ace. I tried to record my own version and had difficulty

Is there an acapella version of "Thank You"? That's my favorite song by them.

I worked an event last week where Boyz II Men did a couple songs, including "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday." it was cool but a little disappointing, as a trio now it doesn't sound quite as rich, but i always loved their recording of it.

the album version was mostly just voices...........

It has a full drum track and a (to be fair, vocal) sample running through it?

The Reverend, Tuesday, 9 June 2015 09:43 (ten years ago)

yeah it's not full-on a capella. guessing nobody in the group could do vocal percussion (and it also wasn't a 'thing' back then)
