Joywave - How Do You Feel Now?

Hypnotized by this record lately. When an uptempo pop rhythm combines with lyrics like "I thought I'd have a nice house / to blow my brains out / or a fast car / to run from danger / My own place / to get away". Possibly because Joe Cassidy has a new Butterfly Child album due in August (FINALLY), but the above and "Traveling at the Speed of Light" remind me a lot of his Assassins band. Really interested to find out where the next Joywave album goes, as this feels like a band defining its style. "Feels Like a Lie" could go on a Hot Chip album, while the two tracks listed above slot into an A.R. Kane-range for me.

Saw them last year and was impressed. Mind you I only saw a handful of shows last year.

they're supporting Metric on their US gigs early next year.
