Joni Mitchell - "Blue" + "Court and Spark" are both dynamite

Can we name tracks that are half or all of the album? Like "Close to the Edge" seems like an obvious pick but I don't know if that's what you're looking for

Dare To Be Stupid is AMAZING

AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 11 July 2015 20:08 (ten years ago)

Though I am also thinking about whether one should pick "my favorite song that happens to be a title track" or "the title track that is not only the best title track, but which is also the best song on that record."

Because I really like "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road." But it's not my favorite song on the album "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road." At the moment I'd probably say "2 kool to be 4gotten."

"Purple Rain" is a great song. But "When Doves Cry" is a bit better.

"Let it Be" is a great song. But "Two of Us," "Get Back," and "I've Got a Feeling" are all better songs than "Let it Be."

Then I get lost in the calculation of whether you could count as "title track" the songs whose lyrics produced the album title, but which have a different title from the album. Elvis Costello rarely has title tracks, but the album title is often taken from the best song. Like "My Aim Is True" is named after the key line in the song "Alison," which is also a great song - but "Alison" is not strictly speaking a title track.

Fair question, I feel like Car Wheels is the type of album you could pick for a lot of things, like I would totally pick Right In Time for a 'best album opener' as well as Jackson being a great album closing track. great album overall, dunno if that is a condemnation of the tracks in between, but I would lean toward Metal Firecracker as my second favourite song on the album currently, so it shouldn't be taken as such.

anyway, back on topic....Synchro System
