Acclaimed Music Top 30 Albums from 1993 poll

we are back after taking off for July 4th.

this list is pretty solid after a lackluster year last year for the Top 30.

Giant Steps without a second thought.

This is sooo Exile in Guyville.

Between Midnight Marauders and Exile for me.

I love Painful, but I think I'm going with PJ Harvey in this one.

Lots of really great stuff, but this is Guyville all the way. Such a great album, probably in my all-time top 20(-ish).

36 Chambers sounds right. Acclaimed Music otm.

Orbital 2 without hesitation (shoutout to Midnight Marauders and Enter the Wu-Tang)

dubnobass is easily the best of these IMO

then probably Very and Orbital 2

Painful, then Exile. I love about a third of Very.

I'll be the guy voting for Anodyne. Listened to that way more than anything else on the list.

PJ Harvey without hesitation

There's about nine or ten albums on this list that rank as some of my favourite records of all time. Ended up voting for In Utero just because it's the one that I feel like listening to the most today.

Painful

What a year! Suede is an amazing record but since Dog Man Star is even better I'll save my vote for that. Siamese Twin is the record on this list I've had most fun with. Wu-Tang and Björk the ones I respect the most.

other albums i love from this list are Siamese Dream, Suede, Modern Life Is Rubbish, New Wave and an album i only discovered a few years back that blew my mind Gentlemen.

I never really thought of 1993 as a particularly big year for me, but this list has changed that. so many big albums for me.

Two decades later, I've finally turned the corner on Debut. "One Day it'll all make sense," indeed.

little shout out to Black Sunday, Vs, In Utero, Siamese Dream and Modern Life Is Rubbish, all of which made up a good bulk of my teenage listening.

seems like the CW favors Pod, but I think Last Splash is perfect. Kim Deal absolutely on fire.

I think Very would be my second pick. It was the first Pet Shop Boys album I heard and lead me to a lot more great music (beyond PSB - I got interested in lots of other pop because of them), so it's a sentimental favourite.

Lots of great stuff here but I'm giving it to In Utero, slightly over Guyville.

I'm voting Rid of Me, but I always dug Wild Wood -- it's the only post-Jam Weller thing I can really get into (apart from a handful of Style Council songs).

Shame Beaster doesn't count

Orbital II is the album that won me over to the dark side of repetitive electronica, and probably has more plays over the decades at Chez Sanpaku than any other album.

I heard Icky Mettle in full the other day and was actually amazed how well sequenced it was (except for song #2 I think which was kind of out of place).

I was absorbing a lot of these records in waves over the next five years, so they hardly seem like they belong to the same time. I think Last Splash is the one that has stuck with me the most?

which one gets played more consistently to this day, is how I'll play this - 'In On The Killtaker' it is ...

one of my favorite years: transient random noise, painful and enter the 36 among my favorite 90s records.

some other of my favorite records that should be on the list imo: 93' till infinity, so tonight that i might see, tiger trap, souvlaki.

You'd think Souvlaki would be more acclaimed than Sarah McLachlan.

Went with Tindersticks but it could have easily been Very, Giant Steps or Suede. The biggest omission for me along with Slowdive is So Tough by Saint Etienne.
