The early days of an annoying marketing label. I was thinking back to Annabouboula and 3 Mustaphas 3 songs that I like, and I thought it might be nice to collect stray, worthwhile material put out under the "world music" umbrella. I'm especially interested in music marketed as world music, rather than just music that came from other countries in this time period, but if people really want to post the latter, that would be fine. If people want to do more than post youtube links, that would be great, but that's all I am expecting to do. (Enemies welcome.)
This Annabouboula is harder-edged than I remembered it. Was there a more watered down version?

That is actually outside my time-frame, but I give permission for it. We can be flexible. I could have made the starting year 1986 for Graceland.

Had that on a mix tape right before Psychic TV's "Bliss" (which still starts in my head, when the 3 Mustaphas 3 song ends).
I realize those are both covers, of course.

I guess I am thinking especially of music not only marketed as "world music" at this early point in the use of that label, but music produced to go into that market. Or at least, music marketed that way, with some sort of fusion thing going on. (Also, I'd rather see the time-frame stretched earlier into the 80s than later into the 90s.)
