lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:12 (ten years ago)

i think monster has the better stand out songs (throw away, codeine crazy) but 56 nights is more listen from front to back

, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:19 (ten years ago)

the skits on 56 nights are funny but they also kind of ruin the flow :(

, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:19 (ten years ago)

having two skits and theyre both abt instagram is extremely funny to me

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:21 (ten years ago)

Instagram is the 5th element of hip hop right now

some dude, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:25 (ten years ago)

I'm gonna stand up for Zaytoven's production on Beast Mode which is amazing throughout.

thom yorke state of mind (voodoo chili), Friday, 10 July 2015 14:34 (ten years ago)

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:36 (ten years ago)

u of all ppl

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:37 (ten years ago)

march madness is the standout song from all this but i played it too much and it's the only song on 56 nights not produced by southside

, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:38 (ten years ago)

xpost i'm just bein honest

lil dork (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 10 July 2015 14:38 (ten years ago)

ur just being onions

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:39 (ten years ago)

i'm truly part of the futurehive because i love 'honest' too

, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:40 (ten years ago)

i think trap niggas might be my fav of the bunch i appreciate the magnanimity of it but idk there r a lot of good ones

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:41 (ten years ago)

i like p much every future release except like two mixtapes and honest

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:42 (ten years ago)

p dumb opinion

lil dork (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 10 July 2015 14:47 (ten years ago)

its actually an extremely good smart opinion

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:48 (ten years ago)

def 56 nights, all are extremely good tho obv

johnny crunch, Friday, 10 July 2015 14:50 (ten years ago)

these tapes are Future being Future, Honest had some good songs but felt like a strained experiment in hanging out with superstars

some dude, Friday, 10 July 2015 15:10 (ten years ago)

somebody dm'd me on twitter n now im 70 weeks deep in her instagram and fearful as hell im gonna accidentally like a pic

Future too real

, Friday, 10 July 2015 15:13 (ten years ago)

feel like these tapes are true future minus the honest aspect which was always present and not at all a bad thing until it took over, but the result w/o it is just so focused and minutely detailed its very beautiful

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 15:16 (ten years ago)

u guys read this http://www.gq.com/story/atlanta-strip-club-magic-city

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 16:36 (ten years ago)

future renaissance

nose, Friday, 10 July 2015 16:37 (ten years ago)

some good enthusiasm from future in the accompanying doc http://video.gq.com/watch/magic-city-inside-the-atlanta-strip-club-that-runs-hip-hop-uncensored

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 16:39 (ten years ago)

Her pelvic bone, reversed, formed a flat mesa of flesh so that her vagina and anus pointed directly up at the ceiling. This was Aimee. I would get to know her later.

lil dork (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 10 July 2015 16:45 (ten years ago)

ha theres def some awful feature story prose in there

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 16:51 (ten years ago)

doc is better, esco is funny

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 16:54 (ten years ago)

is that from the GQ story? the line that caught my eye (aside from the single tear anectdote) was the charming:

Occasionally, City Dollars threw some singles at the naked woman standing in front of us, the way an old man might absentmindedly feed some ducks the crust of his sandwich.

like a giraffe of nah (forksclovetofu), Friday, 10 July 2015 17:06 (ten years ago)

these r some good excepts u guys

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 17:08 (ten years ago)

its p cool how rap despite being a globally commodified industry for decades can still take place in a room somewhere

lag∞n, Friday, 10 July 2015 17:25 (ten years ago)

definitely beast mode, best trap release I heard in a very long time in no small part due to Zaytoven, guy is a bonfide legend.

grant holt (prettylikealaindelon), Friday, 10 July 2015 18:20 (ten years ago)

yeah Beast Mode is by far my favorite of these. Monster has some songs that feel like a chore to me, and 56 Nights overdoes the "Commas" siren.

56 nights is a great project, i wish way more high profile rappers did short, thematically consistent tapes like that

J0rdan S., Friday, 10 July 2015 23:46 (ten years ago)

otm

lag∞n, Saturday, 11 July 2015 04:17 (ten years ago)

Love them all. Going with Beast Mode.

longneck, Saturday, 11 July 2015 06:31 (ten years ago)

beast Mode is obv the worst Imo, songs don't cohere all the time, get kind of annoying, no song as good as march madness or trap gentlemen

Voted 56 Nights

supreme problematics (D-40), Saturday, 11 July 2015 06:43 (ten years ago)

That gq piece is awful, act like you've either been to a strip club or heard rap music before

Also...maybe the 8th story in this subject in 3 years

supreme problematics (D-40), Saturday, 11 July 2015 06:44 (ten years ago)

"Peacoat" and "Real Sisters" aren't even my favorite songs on Beast Mode but they disprove the idea that it doesn't have standout songs like the other tapes

some dude, Saturday, 11 July 2015 07:51 (ten years ago)

it does but neither is as good as the two i mentioned.

supreme problematics (D-40), Saturday, 11 July 2015 08:41 (ten years ago)

it holds up for me. the hook is pretty fun.

J0rdan S., Thursday, 27 April 2017 22:42 (eight years ago)

Mask Off feels like one of those moments when an artist really blossoms and takes it to the "next level", what we call their "T-Shirt moment"

blonde redheads have more fun (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 28 April 2017 12:42 (eight years ago)

despite not being a huge fan of the Weeknd, I have to say I like Coming On Strong

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Friday, 28 April 2017 13:14 (eight years ago)

I've listened to I'm So Groovy about 20 times since yesterday mm-hmmm

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Friday, 28 April 2017 13:50 (eight years ago)

I'd love an instrumental version though (with the 'mm-hmm's intact please)

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Friday, 28 April 2017 13:51 (eight years ago)

i really think the weeknd sucks on future songs

blonde redheads have more fun (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 28 April 2017 18:41 (eight years ago)

I wish I could get a download of the Beast Mode instrumentals. Would love to play them out while DJing. The production on 'Oooooh' is astounding

Spottie, Monday, 18 September 2017 18:26 (eight years ago)

that one is where he really comes into his own style imo tho u can still hear the remnants of his biting

lag∞n, Monday, 18 September 2017 19:43 (eight years ago)

have to admit that barter 6 is basically the only thugger i want to hear at this point

marcos, Monday, 18 September 2017 19:45 (eight years ago)

ANU (sisilafami), Monday, 18 September 2017 20:47 (eight years ago)

anyone check out Future's Superfly soundtrack? im digging the high-def production, even if the songs aren't as memorable as usual. the Zaytoven collab "Walk on Minks" knocks though.

paul mccartney & whinge (voodoo chili), Thursday, 21 June 2018 15:55 (seven years ago)

It's his best album since... 2015, perhaps?

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Thursday, 21 June 2018 16:51 (seven years ago)

I've only listened to the shorter version though. I understand there's a longer one out now that has replaced the first one.

future x metro album is pretty good. "like that" is getting the buzz, "type shit" has travis and carti, but my fav is "fried," which has some residual pluto (meaning his major label debut album) energy

part 2 out today, again pretty solid front-to-back. it's not hndrxx, but the main part of the album doess lean more into future's warbling melodic side (really love "mile high memories," "drink n dance" and "beat it," all not coincidentally co-written by bobby raps). the final 5-6 songs is separated into a 2nd disc, and is a conscious attempt to recreate the vibes of monster. and it mostly works!
