New Music Friday (or the death of New Music Tuesday)

Am I the last person on earth to know this was coming? By "this" I mean record labels are now going to be releasing new albums on Fridays instead of Tuesdays. I was trawling Slate when I ran across this article:

I wonder if other media (films/videogames) will soon follow suit...

As someone who still buys physical albums, I hope it doesn't affect record stores as much as this article suggests. But I can see how this change may cause a dearth in record store sales Monday through Thursday.

My favorite shop always gets everything on Fridays anyways, so this won't be much of a change for me.
