Acclaimed Music Top 40 Songs from 1992 poll

Far from my favorite songs of theirs, but the Cure just because I like to vote for the Cure. Yeah.

44 The Boo Radleys - "Lazarus" was the winner of our Boo Radleys Poll but sadly didn't make the cut. i would have voted for it in a heartbeat (even if i was the only one who didn't vote for it in that poll).

it will probably be the only Cure appearance in these 90's polls as well.

I'll be the only one voting for Stereo MC's. Primarily due to a significant psychedelic experience in 1992 that still brings me joy. Those REM songs make me cringe just reading the titles but at the time, I loved that album.

Going through these lists can't help thinking about the whole rockism poptimism discussion - for some reason I always figured rockism was elitist, a set of aesthetic values propagated by critics, but maybe it's more of a a populist interpretation of criticism? There's a lot of great pop on these lists.

Not a great list, the incredible ground breaking dance music that came out that year is woefully under-represented. Where the hell are The Prodigy, for example? I voted Show Me Love, shout out to Passing Me By as well.

True about the lack of house and dance music. 'Show Me Love' is an all-time favourite of mine so got my vote without hesitation.

Re:Dance yeah these polls are about a lot more than onanism; props to Bee OK for exposing the canonisation.

Took me about 10-15 listens before I realized, oh they're not taking the piss -- they're serious. Vastly schlockier than Whitney.
