Hi, I like to start threads that nobody ever posts to.
Anyway, there's no ilm thread on Jenny Wade. She was in Rude Buddha, Vodka, Timber, and Swans, and wound up married to the guy who publishes Second Skin magazine. Her drummer in Vodka was the lovely Miss Celia Farber (fans of Spin may recognize the name). The Vodka guitar player would work on an album called Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. Jenny would wind up as bass player for a little band called Swans, after playing with a guy named Rick Brown who some No-Wave fans may recognize. Connections all over the place, and yet she's almost completely absent from the history of 90s indie rock and the internet.
I see that she started putting up videos on youtube this past year, and the Vodka albums/eps (some of which are pretty great) are on Bandcamp. Will Vodka ever take their place alongside Pavement as a top band of the 90s? Will Celia Farber's amazing drumming ever get its due (or does contributing to the death of gazillions of people in Africa disqualify you from a place in the indie rock hall of fame?). What the hell was Bob Bannister thinking? And how does one manage to bond with Rick Brown *and* Michael Gira? Questions to make your head spin. A thread sure to sink to the bottom of ilm...
