Jesus Fucking Christ - where are the rock bands? What a buncha fucking contented-with-vanilla-life-contents this list reads as ...

BlackIronPrison, Tuesday, 22 December 2015 03:06 (nine years ago)

the only one that i bought is Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper but not sure if that will get my vote.

Man if they're counting D'angelo as 2015 then that for sure

bunny slopes, Tuesday, 22 December 2015 04:55 (nine years ago)

Only Courtney Barnett and Floating Points made any impression on me among this list... will throw a vote to Floating Points. The guitar rock albums here really are weak. Deerhunter, Beach House, Sleater Kinney, and Kurt Vile have no business being anywhere near this top 30.

Earl Sweatshirt wins best album title of the year, tho.

Little album at 29 called Sremmlife.

There's ten on here that I own, and I really like about half of them, with unreserved love for... none? Yet? Grimes is getting there. So I'd probably vote for her by default.

The SK record is great though, fuck the haters. The riffs! A New Wave gets it a place in any end-of-year list I might concoct just on its own.

Why are we fucking bludgeoning the discourse to its idiot death by polling these christ it's not like nominations for our own EOYs aren't under way, fuck Pitchfork

roughest.contoured.silks (imago), Tuesday, 22 December 2015 11:23 (nine years ago)

Current board description is one of the best of all time. I'd be loathe to change it.

Feel like a ton of these were ilm favs but suddenly they are on a Pitchfork list and it's the end of the world

Amira, Queen of Creativity (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 22 December 2015 19:29 (nine years ago)

I only like Sufjan and Deafheaven from what I've heard in this list and neither would be top 30 worthy by any stretch of the imagination, so... Sufjan it is, I guess.

I like a good few of these and will not begrudge them when they land high on our own poll. I'll not begrudge anything, really, except jamie xx and a couple of others lol

BUT

venerating Pitchfork's choices above the choices of other institutions by polling them like this further continues our obsession with them and the sanctity of their word

their word is so so so often just utter shit and you all know it

roughest.contoured.silks (imago), Tuesday, 22 December 2015 20:38 (nine years ago)

"oh but you sound obsessed yourself zing!!"

gfy, i am a symptom of an institutionalised obsession

well damn looks like the boys over at p4k have done it again! if you had any doubts that 2015 was basically the best year ever for new music this helping of eclectic grooves and total jams will let you in on the truth. it's so hard to pick just one of these fantastic albums but if you twist my hard enough i would have to say sufjan stevens

-san (Lamp), Tuesday, 22 December 2015 22:13 (nine years ago)

I'll twist your hard enough.

A lot of sad, downbeat music in this. I'd like some more colorful, weird shit next year, might as well counteract our depressing times with a little fun.

Hardly, I have been here for 10 years and have over 10,000 posts. Most all has nothing to do with lists. Xpost
