Greatest irony-impaired press release of the month

Chris Barrus (xibalba), Friday, 1 November 2002 02:13 (twenty-two years ago)

"Another first for BOSTON is the title track, Corporate America. This "in your face" indictment of big business and what it is doing to our world, was a big step for Scholz who was determined to get his feeling across in a BOSTON song…loudly! "

Dude! Boston has ALWAYS been "in your face"! WTF?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 1 November 2002 02:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Is this their answer record to "White America"?

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 1 November 2002 02:25 (twenty-two years ago)

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Friday, 1 November 2002 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

mr. scholz has always fancied himself as being something of a hippy. maybe this thread should be linked to Mr. Wollner's "hippy conservatism" thread?

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 1 November 2002 10:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Funded by Bill Gates, I suspect. And dude, there's a hot chick in the band now!!!

brg30 (brg30), Friday, 1 November 2002 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you're confusing Boston with Luna, Bryan.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 1 November 2002 17:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that really the album cover? my god.

Rahul Kamath (Rahul Kamath), Friday, 1 November 2002 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm listening to this song "Corporate America" that I just downloaded off this album.

This is simply atrocious, no matter how noble the sentiments. I just have a hard time believing anyone could make this without listening back to the tape and saying, "holy shit, this is so fucking cheesy!"

Rahul Kamath (Rahul Kamath), Friday, 1 November 2002 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

This has to be the worst song EVER! My god, I have a soft spot for "More than a feeling" but this is shit.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 1 November 2002 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Eewww. I'm listening to it now. Are you sure that press release isn't ten years old?

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 1 November 2002 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I guess someone had to carry the torch after Rage Against the Machine broke up.

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Friday, 1 November 2002 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

There will always be space for...well...not much.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 1 November 2002 23:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Man, those gated drums are the worst. If it is not a drum machine, it sure feels like one. The peddling rhythm guitar during the verses is bad as well. Everything is so tightly arranged that there is not space in the song.

Obviously, you cannot fully judge a mix by hearing an mp3 on computer speakers, but it just seems a real mess. If there is one thing you could say about Scholz is that his guitar tones were always ripping, but they are so buried in the mix under the vocals. It is like he is trapped in the 80's. It is like he has been listening to a lot of "Sarah" era Starship.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Saturday, 2 November 2002 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm trying to remember...was "Sarah" one of those Starship songs that was "in your face"?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 2 November 2002 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

It was the single that came after We Built This City.

Just think of generic late 80's radio-ballads.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Saturday, 2 November 2002 03:21 (twenty-two years ago)

nine years pass...

whoa whoa whoa, Sara is neither an 'in your face' rock song nor a generic late 80s radio ballad.

Poliopolice, Tuesday, 29 May 2012 19:21 (thirteen years ago)

ten years pass...
