No thread for them, so here's a candle in hope of new music someday. The Saddle Creek documentary mentioned that the band never broke up, per se, so every year, there's a spark of hope. Just three albums, and arguably Ted Stevens' first Mayday record - would love to hear how age and experience would inform their lyrics and sound. Every record Mike Mogis produces, am happy for his success while wishing Lullaby would reform. Anyone else a fan?

I certainly loved "I Never Even Asked For Light" but wasn't head over heels for anything else they'd done. It's been a very long time since I've listened to them.

I've got all three of the Lullaby albums as well as the Mayday but tend to listen mainly to Song, which was my point of entry. The sprawling arrangements and cinematic production still sound great. "Expand, Contract" is a compelling opener.

At one point, I ripped the Mayday record with EAC and hacked a cue file so that I could play those two hidden tracks at the beginning. Wish I could find that folder now.

Wow I had completely forgotten these guys existed! I must still have my copy of I Never Even Asked For Light somewhere.

All their songs sound kind of the same but this was the one I could hum from memory:

The "I am not afraid" is such a hook for me. Thanks, you made my day, seeing this thread pop up.

So many good bands throwing strings into acoustic guitar at the time. Got into Pinetop Seven and Matt Pond PA (with _Measure_) thanks in part to Lullaby ftWC, and love everything they've released.

"I am not afraid" is such a beautiful line. It's the lift of "to mimic the cicada" that wrecks me. What a great band.
