There was a second side?

I've been going to my LP collection & finding that there are quite a few records that I only listened to the first half of ... Never really bothered to flip to side 2 -
-20 minutes was enough (This Is Big Audio Dynamite)
or
-the first side was so good, the second side was weak by comparison. (Flip Your Wig)
..or it was side four of "Big World".

Listening to them on CD opens up a whole new world since there is no side 2 & I don't have to flip .. except in the case of multi-CDs .. "69 Love Songs" for example .. I've never listened to it all the way through - I start with disc 1 and get tired of it before disc 1 is over - even though I really love some parts of it..

-Why do I continue to buy records when I still haven't listened to 10% of what I own?

-Does this happen to you?
-Have you "discovered" any great records [ten] years after you bought them?

Opportunity for tangent: What are some of the great "album sides" where the artist was a total genius on one side and not on the other?

that's so true. i just find the whole chore of having to get up from my bed to turn a record over to strenuous really. but to answer your question, i only just *properly* listened to the last side on the second slab of 'the cold vein' after owning it for a coupla years and due to 'ridiculoid' thru 'pigeon' i've discovered i actually quite like can ox after all.

Parliament's Motor Booty Affair. The first side is garbage, but the second side is unbelievably brilliant from start to finish.

Da Capo by Love - I managed to endure the whole 19 minutes of Revelation just once.

I've never really bothered that often with side 2 of Bowie's Low. (Maybe I should.)

Spot on about Da Capo.

Neu 2 - the second side is all fucking around palying their 7" at different speeds.

I've often played side two of "Low" all by itself.

Magma, Udu Wudu. I don't think I've ever listened to the A-side all the way through, but the side-long "De Futura" get repeated listens.

I'm with Nate on 'Low'

The first side of the La's album is great, but i then always find i've reached my limit of skiffle tolerence

I never really give the second side of Pixies "Trompe Le Monde" much of a go; theres some great stuff at the start of the record, but I think it gets pretty samey about half way through.
